alyx expansion?

yea, i was readin some other forum and they said that pc gamer had a thing in it about the expansion with alyx and it made these points
-You play as Alyx
-It'll probably be about what happens before she meets Gordon
-You use the "Alyx Gun" which is a pistol, SMG, and sniper rifle (yay!) all in one.
-The Hydra might be in it
-Cremators might be in it
-It may be possible to take control of Combine things with her gizmo
-ETA is "late 2005"

i don't get pc gamer, so is any of this real?

It's going to come out some time before HL3 comes out...

I thought the alyx gun was only a pistol and smg? how can you turn that into a sniper as well? :sleep:

The hydra...well maybe we could see it attacking people somewhere, but i doubt we can ever fight it.

Apart from that can't wait, sounds great.
 
When I first read the title I was hoping that pictures of Alyx getting fat hadn't surfaced on the internet.

This is much cooler, though I'm not counting on it.
 
i really don't see the point in playing as alyx before gordon got there, what is there to do? there is no major uprising or anything, it'll just be herhelping the underground railroad and shooting a few headcrabs. i much rather would like to play as barney during the week gordon as in the portal or shephard in the 7 hours war
 
Hmm... Valve wants us to believe that in Half-Life we are Gordon. In the expansion, do they want us to believe we are Alyx?

Anyway, I like the idea of more HL goodness. But I think one of the best things I liked about Alyx was her style and voice. So I think it'll be taking us away from some of the things that made it interesting to follow Alyx around. Like that ASS.
 
I kinda think that the idea of playing as Alyx and DOG is missing something... Missing the oomph that HL2 gave me.
 
i dunno, i just can't get into the idea of playing as her. maybe she'll be the first hl fps character to talk?
 
No way its going to happen.
That gamer diden't give any prove,how are we suppose to know if what he says is real or not.
 
There isnt any solid evidence for Valve that this is going to happen, but if it does it would be cool, so would all other SP expansions.
 
Noooooo.... I dont want to play as Alyx :( Give me Shephard any time + 7 hours. But ill probably have to buy this sh*t no matter what, so blaergh.

Allow me to give a look of slight disappointment.
 
How would she go through the parts involving gordon.. talking to a floating hand holding a crowbar who is mute..? Plus it kind of doesn't make sense to the whole "you are gordon" idea.. I don't see it happening.
 
It said in the article that the sections where you meet Gordon would be left out.

Okay, I don't believe this shit any more. Having sudden lapses in the storyline for the sake of not seeing Gordon? Screw it. I highly doubt Valve would be that stupid.

Or maybe they would be. I dunno. But I refuse to buy into this crap until I get official word from Valve. No substitutes.
 
Plus, though shes cool and all, Alyx is pretty much pointless. She uses her little pistol for like 5 minutes in the game.. most of the time shes on a computer.. like us, and no one wants to play a game about our lives right? Even playing as Gregori would be more fun, but like I said, pointless.. playing with one weapon?
 
the thing about alx is, she's a very good character. but we aren't supposed to be a character, we are supposed to be the protagonist. i don't believe alyx has "what it takes" to be the protagonist of a story. she's much more interesting as a character in somone elses story. as i write this, it kind of makes me want to know what alyx's story is.... damnit... now i don't know what i want...

that will never happen - ever. Valve have said time and time and time again that they're games are cinematic and unbroken with no stupid cinematic sequences like that or voice overs.
