It's no secret that Valve have met with Apple many times in the past. And in the same interview, Gabe Newell let rip that he thought Apple could just do better when it came to games. A few years later, of course, Valve brought Steam and Source to the Mac.

It should maybe come as no surprise then, and probably shouldn't raise too many eyebrows that Apple CEO, Tim Cook was spotted at Valve in Bellevue, Washington today...

...Or should it?

What with the success of iOS as a gaming platform, the Game Center, and this even coming to Mac OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion this summer maybe two years on now is the time for Valve to grow their relationship with Apple.

I think it would have been funny if Apple had named Steve Jobs CEO forever like the president of North Korea.

There was a quote last year from Newell, where he predicted Apple would make a push to get their iPod/iPad/iOS space into set-top boxes. It could be speculated that Valve might want to get a headstart putting steam onto a device like that. It would certainly connect some dots.

He also showed concern over Apples closed system becoming a standard in set-top gaming, so it may just be a 'discussion' about changing that.

Or maybe they just had lunch.. who knows!

Gabe talked about the four platforms
Desktop - Mobile - Browser - Living room.

Then he talked about Apple making a move into the living room and now we have an Apple TV.

And the whole time, we hear Big UI for Steam specifically for the living room?

They announced Big screen mode over a year ago and still not delivered.

A simple UI upgrade shouldn't take a year, even for Valve(okay it IS possible for valve to delay a simple UI update for a year :)).
But COULD there be more to the big picture mode than just a simple UI.

If we take the portal2 DLC #1 as a template, it was completed early summer as Valve said it would it literally got delayed 2 months due to Red Tape - getting the OK for all the platforms and through all the global economical/political barriers.

Could the UI be done, and is also waiting something similar?
What about steamworkshop? Can that also be use/activated in game/steam client in the new UI?

Could Apple be in a deal with Valve?
Could they be DELAYING the Big picture mode because they want to do their usual cloak and dagger PR tricks.
