Ok so I was playing Counter strike this morning and I get this friend request from a "ryannn" (yes three N's) saying he was working for valve and said they were offering 5 free games and I get to choose. So at first I thought this was a scam...thinking he wanted my account info so I tell him to buzz off in a very mean way saying i was going to block him. He then says ok well i'm blocking your account, have a nice day. and immediatly I see all my games disappear. I try to play CSS again and it gives me details on how i can purhcase it. SO I LOST ALL MY GAMES

I'm seriously very very mad at this and I start apologizing and he says ok well choose the games you want. I choose and he says ok whats your name and how old are you. I tell him and then he says ok you have some mail. I check my mail and I don't see anything so I ask where he sent it. Said he can't tell me and asks me for my email that I want it sent to.. I give him my old account and then he asks for my account PASSWORD. This freaks me out. So I go the the Support steam acount info and copy and paste the part where it says "under no circumstances will some one from one from steam support ask you for your password" he says well now you have a reason. So I blocked him, (all my games are still gone at this point) and he is like hey if you change your mind come back to me. And I left it at that

ANYBODY HAVE ANY IDEA IF THIS IS A SCAM OR ANYBODY COME ACROSS THIS BEFORE. PLEASE LET ME KNOW ASAP

THANKS

AFAIK, it's not possible for that to happen on his behalf.

Scam 100%
If your games aren't back yet, contact valve support and get a new password made as well.

What the hell? I've never heard of anything like that happening. Get in contact with Valve about this, now.

Anyone asking for your Steam password is a scammer, the end. There was another thread in which someone was receiving a bundle of free games from Valve and wanted to see if anyone wanted the spares, and all that was required in order for the games to be added to the account was the account name.

I dunno what's happened to your Steam games, but have a look in your C:\Program Files\Valve\Steam\SteamApps folder and make sure your GCF files are still there. If they are, then try going through the process of 'downloading' them again - Steam will probably notice that all the stuff is still there and will just re-add it.

Ya I just came over my girl friends house. Installed steam and entered my user name and password and everything went fine. Games loaded fine. I think I just have to go home and re-install steam. Delete him as a friend. BEWARE OF THIS. I don't know how to get ahold of steam to tell them about this so they can post it on their site.

Apparently the mods on here deleted my threads in the other sections of this forum. Someone else put a good idea in here and I think it was you deathmaster. Something about their being a .bog file or someting in the steam apps and to delete it. Some one repost that.

Thanks alot guys. I'm REALLY glad I went with my gut and didn't give him my password. What a dick

try deleting your client registry. blob, steamui.dll, and steam.dll files
then restart steam.

Insane.
I've never been approached.. I've always had to ask THEM. And then waste their time, eventually blocking them.
Hehe.
Did you even find out how he did it? Virus?

So you go around, asking people if they want free games, and then blocking them? Harsh.

Well I just got home from the gf's house and signed on my steam account and every thing was back to nornmal. How can I report this guy?

Get in email contact with Valve, I would assume.

He's just a lowlife fag who's mother won't let him use her credit card to buy Peggle.
