I know that they are gunna show this level on g4 and how the new dynamic light thing works.

But are we every going to play it?

If we can play it how would it fit in the story?

Maybe i would play it, either that or not

Haha.

I'm sorry man but that's just brilliant. You'll either play it or not. Good choice.

I'll definately check it out. My machine can handle it, and it should be cool. I think the way it works out is that it is basically a re-working of Highway 17 but with the HDR enabled.

At least, that's what I got out of it.

No, it is a new addition to the story. The Lost Coast. The concept art even shows a new (fisherman?) character and a clifftop house.

An addition of a fisherman does not a new level make.

I know the new level will have HDR lighting but do you think the update will make all of HL2 HDR capable? Because it would suck if it only worked on the new level

If the aforementioned fisherman is perched on a new house, then yes, it does.

We will play The Lost Coast when all the little ****ing kids stop whining about it. (Not saying you are one)

"omg were is zee hydra??????lolpancakes"

Pancakes?

Anyway, regardless of whether they are new or old, I will play them.

maybe its not just any fisherman, but THE fisherman Adrian exShepard, now Fisherman??? ;)

Hm, why do they say "In the new expansion" ??? Is this free or a total new Payment Expansion?

This is free if you own HL2. It's only one level, not a full expansion.

What i'm curious to know is what they mean by a "level"? Is that a single area or an entire chapter? Hope it's the later... Also curious is how they intend to integrate it: will it be a new selectable chapter, a new selectable "game" or will it be inserted into the existing game itself?

Hopefully that G4 thing will answer some of the important questions, though frankly I doubt anything useful will be said at all.

Could someone post a picture of the map in Cubbage's basement headquarters? I think it was a complete map of the coast, and since we know which route Gordan originally takes, maybe the map will give us clues of what to expect.

I just realised that on the show they might say the release date for the level and other things, HL2 wise. But you never know.

Well since it's a public appearance on TELEVISION why not a better place to break the news to the world?

where is this concept art?

I'm pretty sure it's not just 1 small map that showthe HDR lighting it will be one very big map with heaps of stuff or lots of little maps chained together...

Does anyone noe if it's even got a story line??? and Your probalay play as gordon freeman since the HUD is still gunna show the HEV suit and all that...

Just what i think

There's some new news on the front page regarding "The Lost Coast."
Nothing intersting though.

What is G4TV exactly? Can you watch it streaming true the internet or is it on cable for television?

techtv...they have G4. I think...i don't watch tv anymore. I'm not into staring blankly at a screen without interaction....

Most likely a level.

It really won't reveal anything ground-breaking because obviously some users can't even get the level (Steam checks to see if your system is good enough I believe is what they said so you don't waste your time downloading something you can't run, like if your card was a DX7 there is no way it could run the Lost Coast even at 640x480)

They will probably say next month or something, or maybe "around the time this is airing" or whatever...

I just hope it gets released soon :) Extra wait = Extra quality :)

I'm sooooo blatantly up for this level. The coast already looks awesome in HL2 - HDR and extra-quality graphics are going to be f'kin sweet. I'm hoping for parallax mapping myself :D

BTW, can you stream G4TV, or is it just a sky channel?

G4 TECH TV is a channel about computers and video games. It's on cable television.

It's not G4Tech TV, so don't disgrace what once was a quality network with a G4 prefix. It's now only G4TV, so nothing quality about it anymore, in other words.

It's a TV channel. Nothing else. Pay for cable or stop asking.

I live in Belgium...

It's simply an ATI Level.....
It won't tell you who the G-Man is, that is saved for Half-Life 3, which is basically IMO, what makes Half-Life a great game, the mystery of the gman.
It will be a level, but no doubt have more then 1 loading times.
I wish Valve could find a way to decrease loading times, they seem a little bit slow. I can't wait for the lvl though, the new lighting effects sound cool.

Easy buddy, not all of us live in the US and have an inherent knowledge of cable channels :|

Got Yoda? ;)
does anyone know if its only going to work on ATI cards? or will us nvidia users be screwed(even more)?

Nvidia users will probably be able to get it.

It would be really bad publicity for Valve if they didn't.
