Yes I read the description, and perhaps Visualizations was too broad a category. Winamp in its heydays had plenty of plug-ins and what not that was able to do pretty similar stuff I'm reading.

I have no idea why you're wasting time speculating when you can actually play it or watch a video...

Even if you could, woop-dee-****ing-doo, this is an actual game that is very well made with lots of cool features like a score system and being able to compare scores online.

So, you can log in but you can't compare scores online, I think the host file thing basically emulates your own server.

However, it seems /v/ has a private server set up so they can post and compare their scores on that. I haven't read through the whole 1000+ thread to see how to access it though.

Edit: Lawdy lawd, ok apparantly that IP I said to put in your hosts file IS the private server. If you are using that, you need to make a new account the first time you play on it. New server = new account. This server is provided by Something Awful, and I have no idea how it works exactly, but I think if you're using it you are able to compare scores with other people who are using it.

We could test by adding friends, I'm Veggies on the new server. If you're using the ip I said in the hosts file, post your username.

I was bored of this game fairly quickly, what exactly do you all find so great about it? :(

I like the concept but it just gets old...

When you're at the score screen (or click Songs and Scores at the main menu) click the friends tab and click Add Friend.

Me and Qonfused are currently competing :D
 
Try My Crutch, or anything with orchestral shit in it. Amazing up and downs in those.
 
The game has stopped working for me. Every time I load it up it says: Error Occured : See the logfile "C:\program files\audiosurf\audiosurf.exe.log" for details.

I don't have this audiosurf.exe.log and I really don't understand why it aint working it worked like a charm yesterday.

Nope I did not! And my friend too it stopped working! I did 3 clean installs, still no chance. :(

Is it still working for you guys?


EDIT:

Apparently their servers went off. When I try to load the game it checks online if audio-surf.com is up or something. When I disconnect my internet, i can load the game but whenever i try to play it says I need an active connection for the beta or the beta is expired. (My host file is modified like it should)

I'm out of clue

Download this. I've virus-scanned it and it's clean. It's a tiny .exe file that runs a dummy Audiosurf server, and a set of instructions on what to add to your hosts file. Runs perfectly fine for me now :D
 
But you can't compare scores online and shizz?
 
No. But as long as there aren't any private/alternate servers up, this is the only way you can play.
 
I wonder what the most intense song is? That should be fun be play D:
 
Ongyilkos Vasarnap by Venetian Snares is pretty damn intense, especially if you play it on Ninja Mono.

looks like they fixed the exploit.

Whenever I have the server line in my hosts file, it refuses to launch, and whenever I play without the server line, it says the beta is over.
 
They didn't fix anything. How can they? You never downloaded any update to it. The problem is that the private server went down.

Did you get the .rar that was posted? There are 3 lines you have to put in the hosts file (and erase the old one) And you have to run audiosurfboard. Read the readme.
 
It asked me to log in after about three songs. Did I miss something? Also there is no way in Hell I am reading through this thread.

For anyone still playing: If you try "Beside You in Time" by NIN, on the Ninja Mono difficulty, the synth crescendo and breakdown are completely breathtaking.
 
Also, do Survivalism and The Great Destroyer by the same artist, and Jambi by Tool.

Jambi will rape your house dog.
