Depends on the song style. I'm still not sure what type of songs have them, but it seems to be the ones that have long extended sequences on roughly the same... uh... wavelength, I think it is? Amplitude? I unno.

Load in a bunch of techno songs, chances are you will find a corkscrew somewhere

Is this with the second beta?

The corkscrews have to due with panning and phase differences. If its panned all the way right it will make a corkscrew to the right, or left. The only time I've ever had a vertical corkscrew was on a fill that had a huge phaser effect on it.

The fix seems to have borked on me, it just closes automatically if I try and open it. :/

I redownloaded but it does the same thing.
