Regardless of that article, we do have free speech. The other poster made the statement "You do not have free speech" The simple fact is that we do, and it's stupid to say that we don't. Just because it's not in the constitution, doesn't mean we don't have it. I can speak freely.

The government wouldn't dare infringe on our free speech, because the backlash would be so bad. Australia is different to America. Most of our elected reps are actually for the people.

The government plans to filter our internet, and look how much backlash there is. The bill will be voted out of parliament, and even if it's not, the next federal election is this year so everyone will vote the government out and then vote for a new government that will get rid of it.

It happened at the last election. The government made these unfair work place laws, millions of people protested, the government still kept the laws so they were voted out. The new government got rid of the laws almost instantly.

I knew which media you were talking about, and that's correct, i was playing dumb. I just wanted you to mention the video games so i can prove how utterly stupid the statement of "they were banned" is.

You and most other people dont seem to understand what actually happened with left4dead2. Left4dead2 didn't technically get banned.

The government didn't go into a room and say "oh look at this game, it's too violent, we don't like it lets ban it" that's how most people imply that it happened.

What really happened was the game was refused classification. Why was it refused classification? Because it didn't fit into any current classification. The game is an R standard game, we don't have an R classification therefore the classification board is not going to put it in an MA15+ rating because that would just be stupid and they would not be carrying out there duty of properly rating media.

And of course the game is banned from sale, every media is required to have a rating classification by law, if it doesn't have a classification it can't be sold. So no, the game wasn't banned because people in the government didn't like it. The classification board can't refuse to classify something just because they don't like it. Anyone who implies that is just stupid.

I would also like to point out that the classification board members are Independent of the government. Their decisions are no way influenced by government ministers or anyone in the government.

Not having a classification means not wanting to have games of that stature. Not being allowed to sell unrated games is illegal. It's called a goddamn ban and its a messed up system (for anyone who gives a damn about the games)
