EA Adds Highly Anticipated ‘Battlefield 3’ Beta to ‘Medal of Honor’ Limited Edition

Check out World Premiere Medal of Honor Trailer on Sunday August 1 to See How Shooter Fans Reap Benefits This Year with Special Content and Next Year with Invitation to Battlefield 3 Beta

REDWOOD CITY, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Electronic Arts Inc. (NASDAQ:ERTS) today revealed new details of the Medal of Honor Limited Edition that will be released in North America on October 12, 2010. The Limited Edition* features a host of weapons, powerful ammunition and camouflage. The weapons and camouflage give players a tactical gameplay advantage on day one. EA also announced today that people who own the Medal of Honor Limited Edition will receive an invitation to the beta** for another highly-anticipated EA shooter, Battlefield 3™. Battlefield 3 is the latest entry in the award-winning shooter franchise from DICE in Stockholm, Sweden.

This Sunday August 1, be sure to check out an all-new Medal of Honor gameplay trailer directed by Linkin Park’s Joe Hahn. The trailer will feature never-before-seen in-game footage set to the band’s recently-announced single ‘The Catalyst’ at www.medalofhonor.com/linkinpark. More details about the Battlefield 3 beta itself can also be found at www.medalofhonor.com/battlefield3.

Medal of Honor Limited Edition also features special content out-of-the-box including the MP-7, a weapon utilized by real-world Tier 1 Operators in the field. With its light weight, high rate of fire as well as its ability to penetrate body armor, the MP-7 handles like a pistol yet allows targets to be engaged like a rifle. The Limited Edition also includes two powerful shotguns with custom slugs. These devastating shotguns and ammunition are ideal for close-range fights.

For the first time in its 11-year history, Medal of Honor leaves the WWII theatre and enters the modern setting of war-torn Afghanistan. The game is told through the lens of a small band of fictional characters. Medal of Honor introduces players to the Tier 1 Operator, an elite warrior and relatively unknown instrument of the U.S. Military that operates under the National Command Authority to take on missions no one else can handle.

Medal of Honor launches on Oct. 12, 2010 in North America and Oct. 15 in Europe for the PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system, Xbox 360® videogame and entertainment system and PC. Follow the game on Twitter at: http://www.twitter.com/medalofhonor or become a fan on Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/medalofhonor.

* The PlayStation 3 version of the Limited Edition also includes the classic, Medal of Honor Frontline™ completely remastered in HD. **Restrictions and conditions apply to Beta offer. See http://www.ea.com/beta for details.

omg omg omg omg omg

Because of they way they announced it I have a creepy feeling that it will just be a heavily modified version of BC2(like Medal of Honor).

Please let it be more like BF2 than Bad Company.

Not that I dont love BC2, I just want a game which is like BF2.

OMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMG

wait......medal of honor???

FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU-

So wait BF3 is coming to consoles too? It's going to suck then. We won't be seeing huge maps with 64 people and tons of vehicles/jets/etc.

Yeah, it certainly looks like it. Too bad, but not entirely unexpected to be honest.

I got a friend who bought MOH and hates the BF series. So he will hook me up with a BF3 key when the time comes. This is really unexpected though.

If it's based upon Bad Company 2 engine, then all is complete. The BC2 engine is unlike anything that is out there and I bet Crysis 2 cannot compete on the same level. BC2 runs smoothly but most importantly is that destructive engine which really is an animal of it's own. I hope they don't put in carpet bombing or noob tubes but every game must have this. :bonce:

Hasn't battlefield 3 been confirmed since at least Febuary?

Anyways, nothing is stopping them from having a non-gimped version of the game just because its being developed for consoles as well. It would be a bit out of character for them, since they were mocking MW2 for its lack of PC features like dedicated servers and such. I will give them the benefit of the doubt, and expect at least 64 player servers.

Could it be like dragon age and have 2 seperate versions please? =/

That would be nice. Hopefully we'll see 64 player servers again. I miss Gulf of Oman :(

this reminds me of people buying Crackdown for he Halo 3 beta in 2007 or whenever that was

yeah the idea is becoming more popular unfortunately

MoH preorder beta (early access if you had BC2 aswell)
mgs2 demo with ZOE
ghost recon future soldier beta with splinter cell conviction

sigh :(

Yeah, seems you're right. I still think it is weird though that the game hasn't been properly announced, including the release of some media.

They've still got BC2: Vietnam to release yet, along with MOH. They'll probably do some official announcement sometime after these have been released so BF3 doesn't steal any potential sales.

Still, I hope the PC version isn't held back by the console versions. I'll wait till they release some information before I start judging :D

Unless they make two separate versions it will be limited by consoles to some degree. They will basically have to tack on some kind of singleplayer and sink time into that. The maps will probably be smaller than what we would see if it was PC exclusive. I hope I'm wrong though. Also DICE seems to be working on a lot of stuff lately. Hopefully BF3 is their main focus.

Yeah you're right. But we don't know yet whether the console and PC versions are different versions or not. Hopefully so! :D

Also, I'd rather they just stuck to multiplayer. I never end up finishing single player games these days when there is a multiplayer part of the game to play.

fuk off
I want a PC only BF game

I've totally lost faith in DICE
BC2 is a decent game but it's definitely suffering from consolitis
and MOH mp... where to even begin

I have faith in DICE still. Bad Company was always intended as a Console-First game, and when they brought it to PC they did it much better than any company has done in recent memory. The straight up Battlefield games have always been PC games, and I really doubt, based on that fact and the fact that they made those statements on MW2, that they would hinder their PC product in any significant way because of console development. Especially since BF3 has been in the works for a long time now, I get the feeling that they're really trying to get it right.

Thats just my thoughts on it right now, I'll wait for more information before I change my mind though.

Unless they have come up with something innovative to contribute to the series, why even bother?

Yeah, BFBC2 lacks certain features that the previous games had but does that really warrant an entire new game? I don't know about you but i am not going to buy a new game just because it has a bigger player count and maps.

Now that i think about it. The only reason why DICE hasn't released the SDK for BFBC 2 is because that will be the only selling point that Battlefield 3 will have.

Oh look at TwwIX, a time-traveling forum-goer! Stop talking out your ass. Thats my deal.

Didn't DICE mention that they were looking into some Mirrors Edge type gameplay for one of their games, possibly Battlefield 3? Not sure how that would work with a FPS heavily focused on the guns (unlike how ME was focused on the free running and shooting was rarely used). Perhaps some cover system?

Theyve got Bad Company 2 Vietnam coming as well.

Im really liking DICE at the moment. Theyre doing a great job.

The only thing they suck at is a lack of maps. I could punch the guys who thought adding a different mode to the existing maps was a good idea. WE DONT CARE, we want diversity via different maps, not the same maps with something different to do, which isnt actually that different anyway.

I have faith in DICE aswell they're the only devs of FPS games really that i've not got completely sick of and BC2 is one of my favourite games this year. I wont write this off just yet.

They should make BF3 strictly for the PC and then they can make BF3: Modern Combat or whatever that shitty spin-off to BF2 had as a subtitle for the consoles.

What?! The ****!?

It will be released for consoles for sure.

As much as we may hate to see it happen, but I think the console market is just as if not bigger than the PC market now when it comes to games purchased.

If theres more money to be had, they will make a console version. Which basically means the PC version will probably suffer as a result.

All my hopes are riding on BF3. Pretty much, if BF3 doesn't get 64 player servers, I'm just going to resign myself to the fact that the guys who made BF2 and 1942 are all dead and it's just time to deal with it. BC2 is fantastic but it's not really a Battlefield game in my estimation.

Agreed, BF3 needs big maps with a high player count for it to be a worthy successor. Plus some proper urban maps like Karkand and Sharqi. BC2 doesn't have one single map set in a city.

I miss big urban fights like Karkand, and I also miss having tons of aircraft. The copters in BC2 are great (I'm a massive hind/apache whore) but I miss my BF2 jets and I really REALLY miss all the aircraft in 1942 like the huge bombers and whatnot. I really just wish vehicles had a more prominent role in games these days. The playercount is my biggest beef though. Squad action in BC2 is good, but in BF2 you really felt like a single squad in a much bigger conflict.

Well I officially hate Dice/EA for this. Not only do they drop the Pc exlcusivity... "we care about pc gamers my ass.." but they have to compete with MW2... jeez they suck.

Jesus, I thought I was a jaded gamer. You guys are idiots. Just because its not PC exclusive doesn't mean the game will be shit. God damn you're all stupid.

You must not understand much about companies removing pc exclusivity.... When they do that, they tend to port it over to pc, dumb down the pc version, add DLC's we have to pay for, up the price for the pc games, remove dedicated servers, remove pc modding, and so forth....

It's pretty ****ing disappointing to hear that the sequel to a five year old game is going to be developed for platforms that wouldn't even be able to handle the original today.

Which is shit DICE hasn't done except for with Bad Company 2, which the whole Bad Company series was always intended to be a primarily console game. DICE did a good job with the BC2 port anyways, and I won't chock them up to the standard shenanigans of most developers when they've made statements dedicating themselves to quality PC products AND made a good port of a their console game, something no other developers do. Plus the game has been in development for years which gives them time to do both versions right.

Not to mention, there is nothing I see as proof that its multiplatform. All I can see that would even suggest it is that it simply says that those who buy the limited edition of MOH get beta access, which doesn't necessarily mean that a PS3 MOH gets a PS3 BF3 Beta.

Again, not that it even matters, but you guys are kneejerking over one sentence that doesn't even imply what you're getting angry over.

It mentions you need xbox live gold for the 360 version of the beta
