I've been using hammer for some years now and I would like to know if there are any other programs I could turn to when I want to make more complex brushwork. I would like to be able to make complex shapes on a curve like Unreal Editor alows you to do, such as a vaulted and curved hallway one might find in a cathedral or the hull of a boat. I realize that with HL2's BSP limitations that I might run into some problems but I would still like to find another editor for more complex brushwork.

I took a look at QuArK but its curves are based on q3-like patches and not brushwork, am I wrong? Thanks.

there is one phantom tool out there somewhere which I do not know the name of that can be used to make source maps yet it has now disappeared and noone whishes to tell me where it has gone, or even what it's name was. However I dont think this tool allowed you to make these kinds of things any easier than Hammer does.

If you really wanna make these things, and make them good, my suggestion is to learn XSI and then make props that you can import to Hammer, becausae I don't think there is any reliable tool out there that does this these days.

yep, modeling is probably the way to go
