I don't get it...

Why is activision releasing bloodlines on th 16th, at the same time of hl2's release?

Granted, they are two seperate genres, but it'll mean falling sales, for troika - considering that most pc gamers will be intrested in hl2 instead - and bloodlines is likely to get somewhat overshadowed.

Cos they've had to sit on it for so long, they just want it to go out and make some money before they go bankrupt. I don't think its competition, just first opportunity to get the game out!

Ack, don't question it! I'm happy to get Bloodlines that much sooner. I don't want to wait another month for it or something.

I'm of the opinion that this could help Bloodlines sales. The way I see it, HL2 fans will get their game and experience the Source engine and will probably want to experience that again in another genre = Bloodlines. I know that I will get Bloodlines once I have finished with HL2. Sure, I won't get it the same day as HL2 but I'm sure that Activision / Troika just want the game on the shelf at this point in time.

There could potentially be quite a large number of follow-on sales from HL2 to Bloodlines simply because they use the same engine.

I'm sure they just want it out as fast as possible. If I had sit on it for so long, I know I would.

Of course, I love the fact that bloodlines is out on 16th, and I'm getting it for sure. But if I were troika, I'd release the game in the next month - november is way too packed with many other games!

It definately would mean low sales for me.

I don't think the engine has anything to do with this. Quake 3 and COD were both made on the quake 3 engine, but there will be some people who hate deathmatch like games and love WWII games (or vice versa)

The difference in hl2 and bloodlines is even more significant, as they both are in two seperate genres. Just because someone likes the source engine, he might not like an RPG for that matter (just an example).

Actually, they NEED the game out ASAP since christmas markets are approaching.

Rabid fanboys seem to forget the simple fact that not every PC user plays FPS games.

The original Vampire really only had a cult following, despite it's generally good reviews.

People will buy both, but I suspect most will play HL2 first. There's no way people would be buying V:B to see what Source can do.

TBH, christmas release is better - november is more packed with high-profile games than any other month in 2004.

acutally I suspect that in thier contract they couldnt release it until HL2 was on the shelves
