i haven't played half life 1, so maybe i missed something. i know that the guy in the suit is the same one that put me in the train.. but what was all the time stopping and who is he???

no. but if you cant play a game hl1 because of the graphics, wait for black mesa source. it is a mod that will implement the source engine into hl1. basically you got hl1 with hl2 graphics and physics

A great site for going over the basics of HL1 and 2 without any major spoilers is over here. I think it's pretty accurate and dosn't have any speculation that seems too crazy or wrong. He does a pretty good explination and has a timeline of events too.

To answer some small questions, Dr. Breen controls the combines... and you definatly need to play HL1 in order to understand it..
