Can someone help me please?: Offline steam issues

I choose 'Start offline mode' on steam, so I can play HL2 offline.
But it just wont work. I have upgraded everything on steam/hl2 etc.
But its still not working.
Anyone know what to do?

What do you mean by "not work"?
is there an error message or does it freeze, or just become unresponsive?

Try creating a shortcut to your desktop by right clicking 'Half Life 2" in the steam menu...it should launch.....

by not working I mean, steam dosent start up. It coems up with a steam error saying it couldnt connect.

I had a similar problem, If you connect let steam do its thing a play HL2 online for a momnet, Then once registration is complete diconnect and restart your PC. Steam should start in offline mode, click you HL2 shortcut and many happy hours you should have!
