Who else is cancelling their preorder? I myself am going to wait until it goes gold. Then maybe I can get a break on the shipping. I would order the collectors edition from EB but I hear they are not very timely on deliveries. Plus at this rate who knows when it will be out. Assuming they announce it going gold, then its usually 2-3 weeks for production.

That has not been stated nor confirmed all we get out of valve is SOON.

I'm gonna cancel my pre-order and get it by Steam. I don't wanna have to wait for it to get to the UK....

But otherwise, it does look like HL2 is on the home stretch, it can't be much longer now.

On top of which if it was that close VUGames would be bragging by now. Marketing is important to those who dont play much.

I preordered back in September 2003, and with the unpredictablility of release dates I just haven't seen any reason to cancel it. I know the store still has my order, and the peace of mind I gain from knowing I will have HL2 as soon as it's released is worth the few pence I would have gained in interest.

I don't think us in the UK will have to wait, why should we? I have always got games the same day they were released overseas.

Look at Doom 3, the lag time between US and UK releases was going to be at least 3 days or so, according to the guy from id who announced that it was gold on his .plan file.

And I heard from my Deus Ex-liking friends that there was a horrendous delay between the US and UK. To be safe, I think I'm gonna go the Steam way. TBH, I'm just gonna lose the box and manual anyways if I do get retail.

I preordered mine in Sept 2003 and I hope they still have my order :)

If you get it by steam. you won't have the option of preloading. They stopped doing that after CZ.
Correct me if I am wrong. Cause, I might be.

The preloading is pretty much designed for those people getting it from Steam.

Additionally it starts pre-loading tomorrow. They'll be rolling out the parts of the game that will remain unchanged such as sounds, textures and models. And they'd better do a bloody good job of encrypting the cache file.

OMG ... WHY DONT U GUYS JUST GO BUY IT THE DAY IT COMES OUT IN STORES? ULL GET IT SOONER THAN WAITING FOR IT IN THE MAIL ? :sniper: :sniper: :sniper: :sniper: :sniper: :sniper: :monkee:

leave that monkey alone!

hl2 is popular, it may not be available just for walk-in pickup depending on where you are.
