Can't get past the Elevator......

Hi all,
I am needing some help getting through the elevator part of "Lowlife", is there a certain order or sequence you need to do? What do you do in preparation for the onslaught? Right now I am tossing all the health packs and flares into the middle part between the room where the electrical box is and the elevator, but I only have time to toss them randomly....

I didn't really "do" anything on my times through, in terms of preparation. With all the supplies lying around before, when the combat starts you should have full health and an adequate supply of ammo.

For tactics though, it's probably best to use the gravgun as exclusively as possible, with the shotgun ready on autoswitch. Your time is best spent using the gas canisters to ignite the faster zombies, while the barrels and stuff work well on groups. The flares are useful as well, but require more accuracy. Use them if your supply of gas runs out, or when your flashlight starts getting low. Grav also negates the zombine grenades better than the other guns can. I get the canisters mainly from the behind the small fence to the right of the elevator. The rest of your grav ammo should be lying around close enough that you don't need to worry about it.

Then, just keep that system going, paying attention to the fence you passed when you first entered the area, until dudes get too close to blow up.
That's where the shotgun comes in. Once it gets that far, the fight's probably over.

Oh yeah, and pay attention to Alyx. She'll kill the things that get too close, as long as you take out the bulk of the enemies and keep things lit for her to see.

That was one of the most annoying parts of the game, when it takes 5 minutes to get the elevator but the lift up there is just 15 seconds.

I just played it with making huge amount of flares in there, and I just stood in the elevator stairs and shot things. Too dark, can't see shit.

I don't know for sure, but on a playthrough I saw, I think that the elevator came from the bottom, and the power went out a few times... did it not? I could be wrong... But still, a great gameplay scene.

You guys may flame me for this, I am such a lame-o. I put it on easy, made it through the elevator, and put it back to medium. My skills have diminished a bit over the years, but I love the HL2 franchise, because it is like a sci-fi movie that you are in!!:bounce:

Correct, although I've only launched them at zombies. It's safe to assume they work for melee also.

Try doing it on easy with no flashlight.
