No, not just another character creation thread. I was woundering if anyone would try to make their character look like themself or someone else. I'm sure someone out there will try make their character look like george bush or some crazy shit like that. I wounder how close you can get to copying someone elses facial features in Oblivion?

You could always do the alien from "Enemy Mine"

my first character will be an attempt at making Conan in anticipation of this game

I'll try to create this face (within oblivion limitations)

my second character may resemble this guy

and so on

Is that the Dark Elf from R.A. Salvatore's books?

And we can control how long our character's hair is right?

I might try to get my Argonian to look like one of the big lizardmen from Warhammer. Other than that maybe an Arnold Schwarzenegger for an Imperial character. Cpt. Stern's Conan idea rocks my socks.

Heh heh..."Conan...what is best in life?"

I'm going to make a Dragonlance character prolly, make a warrior like Caramon, mage like Raistlin, thief like Tanis (since there is no midget class for Tasslehoff)

CROHHHHM!

That looks suspiciously like a frazetta...

I always play myself in rpg's, never did like 'being' somebody else. Whenever i'm given a chance to make my own face in a game I will :)

it is a frazetta ..one of my faves too

hey do you train before playing a game? like for Oblivion, did you take horse riding lessons or fencing? cuz you'd better be in tip top shape if you're going to play yourself ..but yes I to play myself in most games ...buut it's no fun cuz I gotta keep taking a break cuz I'm not shape ..BF2 kills me ..always manage to end up across the map and have to run back to the action (my feet are killing me)

I'll first try to make a drop-dead goregous chick. I won't play that character though - I'll try to make one that looks like me. I could use a slight increase in arm muscle size though . . .

When Oblivion is released, lets create a thread called "Post a screenshot of your Character."

no it's Elric of Melnibone by Michael Moorcock

excellent books ...but I know who you're talking about ...Drizzt right? (I think my spelling of his name is wrong)

I generally make an attempt of creating myself in any game that enables me to create and customize a character :P however if i don't suceed because they won't let me be fat enough then i'll move onto creating the GodFather :imu:

Chris Achilleos's Elric was always my favourite depiction. But for heroic figures in general, Vallejo for teh win.

I wasn't aware the Canadians had a sense of sarcasm, that's great news - we almost have the yanks surrounded

ya I like Chris Elric's work and some of his work that appeared in Heavy metal ..I also also P Craig Russel's version of Elric. Have you read the books?

I was a huge fantasy book geek in my teens ..my top 3 were Conan, elric and Karl Wagner's Kane

although I like Boris' work I find it a little posed and kinda too realistic ..realistic in the sense that it looks like models in fantasy clothing

compare

this Vallejo

to this Frazetta

..but I guess that's just personal taste as I love frazetta but dont get me wrong I like Vallejo almost as much ...just not for conan

well i cant speak for the other 30 million canadians but ..yes :)

oh and anytime us canadians can give you (the fatherland-ians) a helping hand is alright by me ...where do I sign up? ...I've packed my musket and powder horn and I'm ready to join the fray

no, arnold was a pale shadow of Robert E Howard's Conan

Never read Moorcocks stuff but i'm familiar with the Elric character from fantasy art depictions by various artists - he's a popular subject to paint i guess.
Yeah, a lot of Boris's stuff looks posed and fake. But I love his knowledge of anatomy, brushwork and use of colour - while frazetta's stuff is usually vague, brown and flat looking, but full of dynamic movement. It's very rare to find one (fine)artist who can deliver the works. Comic artists are a different breed altogether though.

ya I agree with the boris points ..he really is gifted ..frazetta was better at conveying raw emotion but boris nailed realism.

I stopped reading comics featuring guys in tights in my early teens, there's a lot of excellent work by serious artists like the Hernandez bros, Moebius, Art Spiegelman and others ..but most people think Batman or spiderman when they hear comics
