Do any of you know if there were any clues or hints from Half life about Half life 2. Maybe some logo in the scenery or something to do with the plot. i.e. GTA 1 had many hints to do with GTA VC and GTA 3 . Post if you think you have seen any or no any linking to Half life 2.

Not that I recall. I don't believe that they were planning on doing a sequel when they first made Half Life. Once they realized the popularity of the franchise, they planned on two more.

No, because work on Half-Life 2 wasn't started during Half-Life.

half life is old enough to have people search every single nook and cranny. if anything was ever found, wed know about it. some people are going to take months of searching hl2 after they finish it the first time. theyll look for flaws and poor map design etc etc etc...some people are just like that.

but no, i dont recall any sort of clues or hidden logos in the scenery

Yeah, I dont think there are any real clues specifically regarding HL2. Might be some general stuff linking to what happens in HL2 of course.

Also! In the CS:S Beta on the dust map. If you look at the old VW bus near the terrorist spawn you will see on the back lower right side there is the lambda (λ) symbol on it. :)

Crushinator pointed this out to me I believe. :)

cool guys. cheers, i never new most of that, caus i aint a mad mad half life fan if ya get what i mean. ;)

Most of these supposed "hints" of which you speak are retro-active. That is to say, there will be certain things in HL2 that harken back to HL1, that may look like a "hint" if you were to play HL1 after you play HL2. These "hints" though were inserted into HL2 to connect HL2 to HL1. The developers of GTA VC and GTA 3 for instance looked backed at GTA 1 and said "what can we put in our new game to connect it to the first game?" They weren't planinng on GTA 3 or GTA VC during the development of GTA 1.

The same is true of HL1 and HL2.

Psh, I doubt it.

Why do you doubt that this is the case - it's quite ovbiously what they've done.

The same way as in films, they leave the ending (various bits) open, with some stuff unexplained/with room for development. Then if they make a sequel they can write it so that it ties in nicely with bits of the first.

Yeah, like the matrix movies

I think there is one major hint that people seem to ignore or confuse, the G-man is now gordon's employer, I would be surprised to see him as an enemy, or just some bystander. My guess is the Gman will have a role as someone who leads you along, and perhaps works alongside with Gordon, tho not running around shooting stuff.

There are some tie-ins between the HL expansion packs and the original game. As Gordon you see Barney knocking on on a door at the beginning of the train sequence, and if you play Blue shift as Barney you see Gordon going by in the train at the beginning.

"psh" i doubt you know anything other than how to wipe your ass. dont be so ignorant. hes right, and if you think otherwise, maybe, if you close your eyes really tight, and if you wish really hard, then one day, you might be right. but dont forget to cross your fingers and toes little one.

Except they were conceptualised right from the beginning. :) They were originally going to be a comic book series I beleive. When making the movies though, they had to make the first self-contained because if the movie flopped, and the sequels were already planned, Warner Brothers would have been bankrupted.

did anyone else notice this?
In opposing force, at a level I can't remember at the moment, I used the teleportation gun on myself and ended up in a Xen world completely underwater and I had to swim into a portal before drowning.
After I took a second look at this level, I swam down and saw a female BM worker. It looked like the girl in Blue Shift who was pushing the crystal past the security camera.
...it also looked like the Virtual Assistant in the training room...
did anyone else see that level?

Im replaying HalfLife again at the mo, and noticed something quite relevant to the HL2 release fiasco....

In the Office Compex one of the Offices has the following name plate on the door:
Dr. Newell - Scheduled Chaos Theory R & D

Seems a pointer of what would happen with the schedule for HL2

"Chaos Theory" is probably just a jokey reference to Gabe having to manage an entire company with a reputation for bad timing/delaying things. Of course, when Half Life was released, they didn't really have that reputation externally yet... the only evidence for it at that time was the one-year delay of their first game.

Lol .. that's the world's worst example :)

Am I the only one that though Matrix just got weirder and weirder? Like the Oracle say: "Do you think you are the one ? If you were another one, then than one would be another one, which would make you someone else than the one you think the one is. If this so called one was you, then you would be another one and someone else would probably be theirselves and so forth. Nah .. let's watch this kid bend a spoon and eat a few cookies. Oh, btw, your not the One. You are the TWO!" *sigh*
