Combine and Aperture Science

If you have seen the Portal E3 demonstration video than you saw the turrets and combine energy orbs. If you saw the orb go into that grabber then that raised a theory.
-some doors are operated by the orb grabber, just like the combine citidel in Ep1
-the turrets are somewhat similar to the ones the combine use
-and tottaly unrelated to the combine, the portal gun looks like the gravity gun

I have belief that during the portal storms the combine broke in to this labratory and stole the tecnology.

Responces anyone?
 
Seems possible, if not probable. They do say it exists in the HL universe...perhaps it is a controlled environment during the portal storms/7 hour war..

Almost like The Matrix, when they do the instructional sessions...
 
If the Combine stole the technology, they'd have local teleportation, which would - if I understand correctly - completely nullify Breen's bargaining token and leave Earth open to simple destruction/exploitation/whatever. There's probably some sort of connection between Combine and Aperture, but I don't think this is it.
 
Good point but at the Aperture website with the 'thecakeisalie' it said that no one was allowed out of the facility so suposedly the combine had enough time to spread.

Also I had heard that when Gordan killed Nihlanth that a satellite was sent out allowing the portal storms to occur. Thus the combine appearing somewhere near the labs or when at the end of portal when you get to the door that leads to the outside and you open it the combine rush in.

Perhaps this is what Judith and her team were after in Episode 1?

And perhaps that is why the Combine were there as well?

That makes me smirk because I said the same thing with same reasoning when the first Portal info was released and no one believed me :p
 
I believe it's NOT what dr Mossman is after. The Project is quite propably intimately linked to the missile dr Kleiner is preparing, or maybe is the payload itself. Arguably, it's the planetside control center for the Earth cloaking system, something, that would either knock-off our planet from the Combine teleportation network or shield it from external teleportation attempts.

The Portal Gun itself, while an interesting tool, is too small to be of any military value. The reason they sent one of their four core scientists must be something VERY important, crucial even, to the plan.

Finishing, no, I do not support the theory the Portal Gun is the project.
 
I look forward to an inticing and twisting and turning and all around surprising plotline for Portal.

That sattelite hooey started because of this website : members.shaw.ca/halflifestory/

They did send a sattelite up in HL1 but was to stop the RC. Was it succesful? Probably not because of the portal storms (although some people say that the dtorms are because freeman kill nihilanth).
 
Well my thought was that the combine only had vortigaunt slaves and grunts (im not sure if all of them are free), also they must have relied on synths.Until the combine either develop transhuman surgery or learn it from somewhere on earth, it just makes me think they used stuff like that.

The combine were there for about twenty years or so. They possably stole some technology like when in dark energy, Breen said that Judith was qualified to complete Eli's teleporting experiments. Thats basicly stealing an invention from the resistince (even though Judith turned on Breen).

In my theory I think Aperture originaly made the pulse technology:E

But wait, all synths use pulse weaponry so mabye they either had some other weapon for the synth or they didnt have them at all, so many points to cover.

Yes, local teleportation technology. The Combine can't teleport very well, and whole idea behind Judith's placement at Black Mesa East was to aid Eli in the development of his local teleportation technology and, when it was ready, hand it over to the Combine.

Dude who do you think controled Nihilanth. Just like Breen, Nihlanth was a puppet, yes an alien meat puppet. If you can see Nihlanth has that metal thing attatched to his buttox, it looks like combine tech to me. And there are other things that are evidance. Who knows who created the thumper (probably the Xenians)but now the combine have stolen some invention thus showing they must have ruled. Even when you see a vortigaunt janitor, that could be proof.

The way I see it the combine made a little but stole alot.

The Nihilanth and his race fled to Xen from the Combine, and it serves as a last safe haven. What you fought in HL1 was a group of refugees.

We are on the same page, I believe that Portal has something to do with "The Project". Is it possible that the Facility in Portal is actually located in the Artic. Secluded from human contact, so perhaps stayed out of the Combines Radar.

I do, however, believe that there is no combine technology present in Portal, its just a coincidence that the turrets fire similar rounds. But design, reliability and firepower possibly means that it is not Combine.
 
I have a craziest idea evar! Right after the resonance cascade, Combine came to earth and to determine whether human species are worth "assimilating" theyve performed a series of tests on a bunch of human subjects. So, when you beat the game - you doom the humanity. :)

*cough* Combine has not teleportation technology of such kind *cough*

Isn't it obvious that the site Mossman is talking about in her second transmission is something large, possibly a satellite uplink array? As I said, the portal gun is too small and insignificant to be of military value, and sure as hell wasn't developed by the Combine Empire for one simple reason: Combine has no local teleportation tech whatsoever.

Aditionally, the game itself is apparently set around 2005, according to ApertureScience.com and by the time of Half-Life 2 the facility would be scavenged, compromised or downright destroyed. Besides, it would be a serious security threat to Earth, because if the Combine found it, they would be able to reverse engineer it to their own ends...

So, no, the Portal Gun is in my opinion completely unrelated to the task at hand.
 
I honestly don't see how Portal has anything to do with the Project. I mean, she's looking for something the resistance built, then abandoned. The resistance are not uber-tech. She is looking in the Arctic wastes and this 'Project' has to be something beneficial. The portal gun is not beneficial to the resistance forces. The Project must be something substantially large and tie in with Kleiners rocket. The most logical explanation for the Project is that it's something to do with shutting the Combine off from Earth.
 
For the love of God and dead puppies, CAN IT! Aperture Science has never been mentioned so far in Half-Lives AND so far it only appears in PORTAL! Just because it is set in the same world, it does not mean that Aperture Science made the Project! SHUT UP WITH UNFOUNDED ILLOGICAL THEORIES!

Aperture is important in the HL series so we can make up theories all we want and if you don't like it don't come to this board.
 
Currently Aperture is everything but important to the storyline. It's just *set* in the Half-Life world, not *related* at this point.

I suppose the Project might be something built by the resistance, but derived directly from a project that was conceived and put in motion just after the Portal Storms began and later abandoned due to the invasion.

Might be either rebel or former governmental. Currently, it's a MacGuffin.

That doesn't prove it was built by resistance, does it? It may just be something built by a third party (aparture science, black mesa, former government or Donald Trump) that could compromise resistance's work on teleport technology if it were discovered by combine.

What is important, is the fact that Mossman refers to it simply as "the Project", which suggests that the resistance posseses knowledge as to what the project is, and what's it's function.

And please, stop sticking Aperture Science everywhere, it doesn't even *fit*.
 
Dude we are just expressing our thoughts so if you dont like it than stop putting us down. Its just our thoughts not the real game alright, geez.
