I think the Combine symbol is awesome.

I'd like to find a larger version of it, and find out a bit more about how it was actually made. Would anyone have any more info?

Ta, wtr

Well using your eyes and some simple math (you don't need to know how to count above three actually) you can do that by yourself:

Looking at that picture I'd do it the following way...

1) Create a cube shaped picture. Cube means both sides are equally long.
2) Divide it to 3x3 grid using help lines.

Imagine that you now have a set of points from 0,0 (top left corner) to 3,3(right bottom corner). Using this info, draw the following lines:
3) 1,0 to 3,1
4) 1,0 to 3,2
5) 0,1 to 1,3
6) 0,1 to 2,3

Also make an extra line from 3,2 to 2,3 just to get that extra fill for right bottom corner area. Fill the area defined by those lines with some color.

The hardest part of this very simple thing is the circle since it's actually positioned a bit off. I'd say the center of the circle is somewhere around 1.8,1.8 and the diameter of the circle is around 1.2. So, make a black circle (or whatever your bg color is or just a selection if you know how to make partially transparent things) place it to a proper position, contract your selection a bit and fill the remaining selection with the fill color of your choice.

I did feel like yelling something about annoying newbies before writing all that but then I noticed that you asked politely and even used correct punctuation so I just didn't dare...oh yeah, these numbers are just approximations, I didn't measure the actual proportions.

Thanks for your help, but I think it would just be easier to accurately create a vector based template in photoshop, then you could increase the size to anything you want. I was thinking more about those crazy colours. To know exactly how they were done would be very handy knowledge indeed. Sure, I could probably create something like it given a day with PS, but nothing compares to the original. It's almost like the whites are a toned down picture of the surface of the moon, if you look close enough.

And thanks for not ripping into me!

The basic bump looks more like hue-corrected concrete to me.

I might be able to trace it over and come out with a higher res version.

to me it always looked like a vertically flipped steam logo :o
