Controller Aid Needed Please ...

Hi,

I have DM, and I have set all of my controls to my controller. As it is twin axis, I have set the left axis to move forward, backward, left right and the right one to look around.

However, I have a problem. I have set the right on to look around, left and right, but I can't seem to find the controls to enable for me to look up and down. I think I found a "look up" "look down" option (or similar) on the control menu. As you may know, having the control over looking up and down is vital in DM as it governs how and where you hit someone.

There must be people who use a control pad to play DM, as I could not imagine playing DM with solely a mouse and keyboard. For the people who do use a control pad and has set their axis to the configuration like the PS2 port of HL1, feedback would be greatly oppriciated.

By the way, the name of my control pad is the Logitech Cordless Rumblepad 2.

You'll have no chance with a gamepad in DM, dude.

And the problem's unsolveable. At least it's with a racing wheel.

You can get software that replicates joypad moves as keyclicks, although you loose a level of control.

You would be far better off learning to use mouse and keyboard, you will be far faster and more accurate that way.

ok, what I can see, using the keyboard + mouse combo is probulary better than a game pad. Thanks. What about if I were to use a gampad in game, as I was thinking of buying Half Life 1: Anthology???

Honestly, once you get used to mouse and keyboard, you'll wonder how you ever managed with a pad

Keyboard and mouse are the best thing to use with any pc games.They provide more hand space and comfort for playing games upon hours.Control pads are more cramped for space and it does your hands no good unless you are used to it.But i would prefer keyboard and mouse over pad any time espically for FPS.

For some of us who played half life 2 on the xbox and then went out and got DM for the computer it is not easy to do our best with the keyboard.

Mouse = Looking around movement ...

what do your guys use as forward, backward, shoot etc.

(Yes, may be obvious, however, I'm only getting into PC gaming)

The defaults should do absolutely fine.

I haven't changed the controls on my HL2 so long, I forgot what was the default, but I do eet liek this:

W - forward
S- backwards
A - left
D - right
E - use
R - reload
Space - jump
Control - crawl/duck
Shift - sprint
Left mouse button - primary weapon function
Right mouse button - alternate weapon function
Numbers and wheel - change weapon

I'm pretty sure that is the default, but... Not that sure...
