Why are half the faces not being drawn?
Can anyone help.

i'm afraid this is valves buggy-as-**** sdk beta. what it's doing is inverting the texture normals on those faces. you'll need to rebuild your geometry. or wait for valve for pull their fingers out and stop trying to fix things that weren't broke...

thanks for the reply, Im only using the beta as the normal doesnt work lol.

thanks again though

The fact that you've evidently mangled your brush to an invalid solid couldn't have anything to do with it, could it :P

Heres how I made that,

I selected cylinder, made an area in the views, then right clicked and selected create and thats what appeared.

Please explain what you mean a bit clearer, thanks

If you want to resize a cylinder you've already made. You have to scale it up in small numbers unfortunately =/ Else you get that stupid ass bug

Thanks guys for all the help, ive decided im going to work on a different part of my map, until this bug is fixed, its just too much work with this bug here.

looks to me like a standard convex brush, so a non-buggy editor should have no problems with it

Raeven0 is right - it's a Bad Brush. Of course, the beta Hammer is still to blame for the missing faces.

oh right. i didn't see those vertexes there. probably a selective blindness brought on by not even thinking it possible that someone would do something as bizarre as that

still, like you say, not the cause of the inverted normals

That particular cylinder was made quickly to show what the problem was, lol, thats the cause of that mistake.

if you are interested heres a pic of my map so far, very early still though
