What can i get for that price? i want a intel duo core cpu and at least 1 gb of ram and a video card (7600 or x1600, or any new cards for the laptops). i wanna play games like CS:S, half life 2, Need for Speed Carbon, Far Cry, or any good DX 9 games. i also want to be able to edit music or movies.

should i wait till DX 10 cards for laptops come out?

I don't think you'll be able to get anywhere near that for only $1000.

Laptops are always more expensive than desktops, and a comparable desktop would cost at least $1000, if not more IIRC.

Considering how much room you need to put a DX10 card into a desktop, I think it will be some time before it appears in a mobile solution. Plus you will be paying in excess of $1500 for that kind of system anyway.

If you're tighter on cash. I think its ?100 less so..dont know what that converts to in dollars.

I personally have the 5672wlmi and its great for gaming and general use. The screen is awesome. Its quick. Ive yet to put a next-gen game on that ran badly/slowly/with low graphics.

Awkwardly HL2 is the only game ive had problems with playing. It seems to freeze for around 10 seconds, then carry on. Then freeze some seconds later, then start again. WHats really weird is how CS:S and DoD:S run fine with the same max settings as i have on HL2...its annoying but hey. One game in 50 isnt going to hurt right?

I can even play CoHs on medium-max settings on 1024 res at around 15fps. For a laptop, thats amazing.

Is that the one with the Go7600?

newegg.com has a few that might be what your looking for, but for under $1,000 you'll have to make a sacrifice on memory/hdd/cpu speed for that kind of graphics.
