depth of field ?

ive seen depth of field in garry's mod, is there an easy way to get depth of field in a singleplayer mod ? i suck at coding, dont know anything about C++, is there any hope ?

i didn't know it had been implemented in any game. I know Valve had plans of using it in DoD:Source but haven't yet.

I don't know what a depth of field is. Is it contagious?
 
depth feild was only in a screenshot for garry's mod because they photoshoped it and depth feild is wen the background is kinda blurred depends on wot ur focusing on

...My, that sounds utterly annoying.

Well, you'd want to ask in the coding forum to get precise answers. I suspect you would need to find the distance from the player to whatever object he's looking at, and use some slightly modified preexisting blur function to blur everything not at that distance.
 
It looks pretty good but it's not accurate, afaik so far no-one has been able to done a accurate real-time DOF without being raped, even the DOF in the DoDS Techdemo was an effect that had been ADDED in after, the DOF effect was not real-time.:)
 
do any of you think theres a coder like garry out there thats able of coding the depth of field like in garry's mod? its like the only thing i need coded for my mod.
