We found out in July that CBS Films was developing a movie based on the hit Eidos and Square Enix video game, Deus Ex: Human Revolution.

Now comes word that the studio has brought in the team behind the recent horror movie hit Sinister to bring the movie to life. Scott Derrickson will direct, as well as write the script along with C. Robert Cargill, who’s better known to some as Massawyrm from Ain’t It Cool News.

The game is set in a future overrun by human augmentation—tahe ability to improve yourself with mechanical implants. It follows Adam Jensen, a security specialist who’s almost killed when the company he works for is attacked. He’s only saved by a great deal of augmentation to his body, and, once fully healed, he gets back to work. His first job back involves infiltrating and trying to stop a hostage situation, which turns out to be only the first step in uncovering a worldwide conspiracy.

Of the news, Derrickson had this to say:

“Deus Ex is a phenomenal cyberpunk game with soul and intelligence. By combining amazing action and tension with big, philosophical ideas, Deus Ex is smart, ballsy, and will make one hell of a movie. Cargill and I can’t wait to bring it to the big screen.”

If it's not a complete turd I could see this being pretty cool. Hope they don't screw it up too much.

Yeah, could be good if they get someone good to direct and write, and give it enough time to develop.

But I'm keeping my hopes at the healthy level of non-existent.

Basically. I would love a Deus Ex movie IF it was given enough time and talent, otherwise I would rather not have one.

What's the chances Uwe Boll will try and get his mitts on this one?
