Did the old pastor of Ravenholm die in the graveyard? or maybe in the fall of the Citadel? Is this the last of Grigori?

Who knows? But most probably died when the citadel exploded.

I love that character. But of course we won't see him EP3.But I don't think he is dead He lived there for very long time with those things some stupid zombies can't kill him :)

But an exploding citadel can :(

But you can see it at entrance of Black Mesa East.Probably it was night so we can't see it.

That wasn't the Citadel of City 17, that was another city.

If you're talking about this...

That, to me, looks like Ravenholm; not another city.

That's not Ravenholm, there's no tower in Ravenholm.

The place in the foreground is Ravenholm, the place in the background is another city.

That ss taken from entrance of Black Mesa East right?

How do you manage to get there (to city with tower -if that place is ravenholm-) thought a coridor?

That tower is apart of Ravenholm, its the church I think.

Ravenholm is out of bounds from the Citadel so I doubt the blast killed him, but there was a shit lotta zombies swarming him when we last saw him, but it would be indeed cool if we met him inexpectadly in the future.

We won't meet him again. His ending was cool. It whould be stupid to revisit his character, exept, then a mention from one of the rebels.

You are right. He had a GREAT ending.A man who is charging a group of zombie with crazy laughs.I always drop a grenade to that zombies to help Father Grigori. Then I turn my face to that Tunnels.

He can die once he lets you through the gate. He probably died anyway once the citadel exploded.

Either way, it doesnt really matter. But I'd think he would be smart enuff to get underground when theCitidel went KAblewy.

I think he was dead, and I actually like that. I love it when characters have complete stories, indefinite endings annoy me somewhat.

He lives on, in our hearts, and our hard drives.

I think Valve want it to be ambiguous. It's possible for Grigori to die after he lets you through the gate, but depending on the circumstances he doesn't die in every game. One wouldn't expect him to survive the Citadel explosion, but then tbh one wouldn't expect anyone to be capable of living in Ravenholm either, yet Grigori managed it. I reckon Valve have no firm canonical line on this and that it's more something to be decided by the player based on their own personal HL2 experience.

My belief: Grigori never once died in the flames for me in something like a dozen plays through, so I'm going with the notion that he at least survived the events of HL2. As for the Citadel blowing up, Grigori was a canny old bastard and I think he had enough time (seeing the Citadel go critical from afar) to either get the hell out of dodge or hole up somewhere in town, like the mine. I don't think it would be an easy thing to get him to leave Ravenholm though... Maybe not even the threat of nuclear obliteration could do it.

Yeah, forgot to say that I too think that there's zero chance of him popping up again.

who knows, one of the many zombies encountered after ravenholm might be him. :imu:

Said the man who couldn't spell would, or except, in fact, I'm not even sure what he's trying to say...

I don't think we'll see him alive again, but it would be nice for valve to put in a little Easter egg about him. I'll leave what it is up to them though.

He survives...

Since ravenholm was originally a stop for rebels escaping city 17, which is a good distance away (and surviving the train crash leading to ep2, far away enough), im pretty certain it doesnt have a citadel. Hes still alive in that little room in the graveyard. Knowing grigori and his engineuity (excusing my spelling) he probably has a trap door in there to escape after you leave. Also, since he had the option to leave at any time and go back to BME or just head on to the coast (despite his mental condition, being insane and all...), hed probably remain in ravenholm, "sending his congregation to a better place" as he would probably say.

As far as I recall he died the first time I played it. Whether he actually did or not, I don't know.

The times since then he's lived.

I think I preferred it when he died.

Its made so hes supposed to live though, at least if I read things the right way, otherwise hed have a more obvious death, and would die every time. Its more likely he has a secret escape route and stays in ravenholm, killing the zombies of his ex-friends and neighbors.

Didn't he lock himself in the small house after letting Freeman through, with nothing but flames and zombies surrounding him?

Did you ever look in that small stone masoleum? Theres no way to say he didnt have some sort of escape route, given all the time he would have had to dig or build one, otherwise he could have just ran off before the zombies completely overwhelmed him.
Also, dont just noclip in there, valve didnt intend for people to actually look in there, but rather think "omg zombies are comming, i better run away".

Then again he could concider freeman the "mesiah" and, having aided him all he could, killed himself... but then you probably would have heard an audible gunshot, signifying his death, but thats just a theory...

I would say that he lives, based on the odds of Valve killing off such an awesome character without significant plot development :|.

Well being overwhelmed by a mob of zombies is a slightly obvious death :|

I think the mausoleum door closes after the gate and a short time, because ive seen the zombies stop comming tward the place and just wander around, untill they get killed by me, but grigori's body was nowhere to be found.

Besides, being killed by a couple wimpy zombies is a pathetic death. Im pretty sure if he was meant to die, it would be a bit more exciting... but his fate was meant to be ambiguous. Still, im certain in all the time hes had to himself, hed have an escape route in that little building.

Im almost certain hes supposed to live though. Are you sure hes meant to die?

Get a Life Pee-Pull! He was a Fictional Character. In a GAME.

The G-man beatified him and he becomes a Saint in Ep3.

If you havent noticed though, this area of the forum is about hl2 and hl, so we can discuss anything in it, and where are you getting your information? He would most likely have a secret escape route and go back to killing zombies.

If Gregori survives the million zombies he runs to the back of the mausoleum, laughs and disappears. This can be confirmed with noclip.
