It's a Gibson Les Paul Studio. :D I'm loving this guitar, it feels great. All it might need is a some new volume pots and some SD pickups.

Post some pictures of your favorite toys!

You lucky luck man... Cost you much?

$0. My uncle gave it to me. I guess he didn't play it much, so he gave it to me. I'm VERY lucky.

But what this does is free up my money for a new amp! :D

I woulda kept on flippin the strum bar until I got the red one...

thats a nice guitar. get a tube amp and it will sound really good.

Yeah, that's what I plan on doing. I'm using a Marshall AVT50x and playing thru my computer with a Line6 TonePort UX1. The TonePort is pretty good, it puts out some pretty sweet amp models, but the AVT has to go.

I was thinking about buying a Laney LC15. It's a nice, small 15w all tube combo. It would be perfect for playing at home and isn't much more than $500.

ahhhhhh man you lucky son of a gun!

I have been trying to get a les paul for some time now, but all I can afford are cheap Chinese knockoffs ;(

How about an Epiphone?

I have an Epiphone les paul special II, and about all I can afford right now is an Epiphone LP-100, which is basically just a special II with a pick guard.

I'll be getting a job soon though, and I should have enough money to buy an Epiphone LP standard in about a month. I'm also going to a NAMM music competition in Austin this month (my band made it to the top 8 finals), and if I win I'll get 700 bucks to spend at a music store of my choice. (But I probably won't win.)

Wow, nice. Does your band have a site?

That would be cool though. If you win you could tell people you got your guitar from namm.

I hate you. Now give me your monies. :D

That's some sweet shit right there dude, congrats!

get a tube amp .

Any other day, I thought you would be crazy, but then I have seen those amps, and their price tag.

Just to clarify, what are the tubes for, because I thought they were pre-historic transistors

I have a SS amp. :(

Could i borrow it ? PLLLLEAAASEE!!! xD
(dunno how to play but whatever!)

Transistors have replaced tubes in pretty much everything, except certain sound equipment. Mostly because they're pretty much better in every way; more efficient, cheap, reliable, etc. But for guitar amplification, you really can't beat a good tube amp. They're just so much more.. "organic." They're warmer, they distort smoother and more naturally (hell yes, tube saturation!), they bring out picking dynamics a lot better, etc, etc, etc. They're also bulkier and weigh a lot more, but they sound so much better!

Nice Les Paul, by the way. Nice price for it, too, :P. How does it play? I haven't played an LP in a while, but I remember it being a little bulky for my tastes. Perhaps it would grow on me.

*dribbles* Question is, can you play it?

Yeah, well I'm still sort of learning all there is to the guitar, but I'm getting there.

It plays really nice. I love the neck. It feels solid and sits really well in my palm and the Les Paul scale makes the strings easy to bend/vibrato. The sustain is crazy due to the sexy maple top and mahogany back. My old guitar is going to collect dust now.

My only complaint is that the pickups are sort of lacking. They're not as hot as I'd like them to be. I borrowed my friends Epiphole LP that had some Seymore Duncan Alnico Pro II's in them and they sounded fantastic so I'm thinking about dropping an Alnico Pro in the bridge.

I don't know much about guitars, but I have a friend who owns a Gibson SG.

My fav toy? Look at this baby. :D

I just got a VOX Valvetronix AMP for 500, sounds unreal. I suggest one of those

I think it's blocking your TV.

LOL

That TV's so old that it still has one of those side panals, and those huge speakers that only go up to 10 volume. We don't use that TV, it's just to hol d my gynormous speakers. ^^

Line 6 amps are beautiful. I currently have a Vox Valvetronix AD50vt and as much as I love it so, I would kill for a line 6 amp any day.

i wanted to buy the Vox cuz it has a really rich tone and it was great for shows, but i got an offer i cant refuse on the line 6 on ebay. got it for $250 including shipping and it came with the Morley Bad Horsie Wah Pedal and the 4 channel footswitch which i use alot.

the only complain i have about the line 6 is that it sounds really horrible at high volume unless u tweak some settings.

Those Line6 Spiders sound great as practice amp, but sound horrible at anything more than that.

I play thru a Spider when I go to my lessons and it sounds great at low volumes. I have, however, seen a Line6 used in a gig situation and it sounded horrible. Really, if you're going to gig, you should be thinking about a tube amp.

Awesome guitar man, I really dig the color too, it's better than the stupid sunburst or flat black that everyone else gets
