Dota 2 Halloween Event "Diretide" Now Live

With only one day before the actual holiday itself comes the Halloween Update for Dota 2. Included are a new game mode called Diretide, Eggs and cosmetic items. Along with the update came a new cinematic for the event, made completely in Source Filmmaker. Check it out here.

Diretide is a new game mode in which players run around the map collecting candy, until Roshan breaks from his enchantment and makes chase. When Roshan is killed he drops both Essences and eggs. Essences are used on eggs to make them hatch couriers, and it seems that various combinations or a higher amount of Essences will breed an exceedingly rarer courier.

Throughout the Diretide celebrations, you must treat your egg well. Feed it the essences dropped by Roshan...or don't! It's really up to you. It is said (by some elder sage or other) that the hatch lings are highly susceptible, and that each essence exerts a unique influence on the incubating creature.
