Hi, i was playing ep1 a few minutes ago, and i found that using the commentary nodes in dev commentary, which give you limited invincibility, you can complete most of the game without taking damage! This is quite handy for people who get killed a lot.

If youre one of these people i hope this helps :)

Well, I suppose that works. :\

But you don't get achievements while in commentary mode on the 360 Orange Box version, at least I don't THINK you do. Someone want to clarify?

That's great, but I would either turn the difficulty to easy or cheat and use God mode

Yeah, Achievements are disabled if you play in commentary mode. There are loads of cheats you can do in the console to make the game easier. You can make yourself god have all weapons etc

There's no point in that. On the 360 version there IS a cheat code which turns on god mode.

True, but ive just started playing games without god, as before every game i played i cheated. Trust me, in some places this is VERY useful. In places without commentary, i get owned constantly.

I wasn't even aware there were cheats for the console version.

Why would you need to cheat? Half-Life 2 and it's episodes are some of the easiest shooters I've ever played.

I honestly can't comprehend why anyone would need cheats. Playing Half-Life 2 and episodes on easy is like... going for a walk in the park on a sunny day eating an ice cream, compared to previous generations of shooters. Even my mum would have little trouble with Half-Life 2 on easy...

...except what you're doing is pretty much cheating.

What he doesn't realise is that when you play a commentary node it activates god mode for the duration of the clip. So he still using god mode.

Oh my god, don't tell me that you are getting constantly owned on easy.

Who cares if he is? Does it make him a bad person? Would it be better for him to find a way to get through the game easily or to get frustrated at every battle and never finish the game?

I also agree that buddha mode is superior.

I have no problem with it. It's just that he shouldn't act like he isn't cheating when he takes advantage of the commentary nodes' temporary invincibility. Might as well just use godmode to save himself the trouble.

half-life and Unreal were the only games I remember being insanely tough. Oh, and Duke Nukem 3D.
