Citadel self-destruction is not whole storyline, it's only small part of plot! Story will be more interesting...bbson_john said:However, that is not so important. More important thing is that the storyline is not so attractive. I mean the Citadel self-destruction part. This idea is very old and has been used in many thousands of different games and movies and novels. This idea is so old and bad. I am quite a bit disappointed with the Valve personnels' imaginative ability.
bbson_john said:Stop arguing over the price. Valve knows all HL2 players must be going to buy the game. So Valve can hang the price as high as it wish to have and you players are still going to buy the game despite the high price, since HL2 had already made you addicted to the story of HL.
Another thing is that the game is short, yet some physics puzzles may take some VERY stupid players forever to play until they come to the forum and ask for help.

Samon said:The Citadel meltdown/self destruct is what is driving the story. Its the background. Everything underway in City 17 is because of it. Its the driving force. But there's a great deal more in there than simply the exodus from C17.
Raziel-Jcd said:WTF! Do you have any idea what your talking about? Thats NOT the main story just.....Ugh....Nothing its...w/e Man i dont respect comments like that. You obviously dont know anything about HL2 and how aftermath is connected. Its a shame...:flame:
bbson_john said:So, the self-destruction part of the story is not as good as the other parts of the story, okay?
RezDude said:What's so bad about it though? It kinda makes sense. The Combine are wanting to kill Alyx and Gordon...hence why they are trying to blow it up.
Oppressor said:When you guys play Episode One you will definetely not have any complains on how non-original the selfdestruct-sequence is. You will perhaps worship Valve even more. How can anyone complain if they see the screens and the new trailer?
I sense a tone of desperation in your... text. Worried a little?Samon said:We'll see it. We'll see it. Too much has been made of it for us not to see it.
el Chi said:That shot of Alyx in front of all that devastation and the Strider in the distance is possibly one of the most atmospheric pictures of a game I think I've ever seen. Marvellous.
rambler said:greatgat you are so right. we will have been teleported by gman into stasis, broke out moments later and have found ourselves outside of the citadel with the explosion already having taken place....
Greatgat said:If I don't get to see the Citadel go up in an orgiastic explosion of fire and shrieking metal at some point, I'm going to be super ****ing pissed.

I kind of hope we end up staying no Earth for the final chapter (or whatever ends up finishing up the story). It's just more interesting emotionally. I think the problem most people have with the end of HL and Xen is that it feels a little removed from the context. Think about it. Here you are, surrounded by people you are trying to protect from the OTHER people who screwed humanity over and the results of their cock-up (Aliens), when suddenly you're transported somewhere and the human element is gone. No one to protect, no one to talk to: I think Valve realized this because even when you're in the Citadel, you've got Alyx to lend some emotional weight. It just loses something when you are not being reminded what you are fighting for. So I'm all for being on some alien worlds at some point, sticking it to the Combine, but I just hope the last bit is on Earth, surrounded by the characters we've grown attached to, giant alien flottilas in the sky maybe, but HERE. And once the Combine Overlords are gone, you get some nice chocolate cake.Samon said:Naw, I'm not worried. I just wonder where they will set the final chapter and how it will tie into the story and such as - and whether that'll fit in the Citadel explosion. I'm sure it will.
