Episodic Retail

Is it still happening and what's the deal? Will purchase of the retail package entitle us to the first episode, a few episodes, or the entire series of episodes over steam? If this goes on for some time, it'd seem silly for EA to keep releasing a new expansion disc for every episode, so perhaps they'll unlock later episodes over steam and revise the discs as they go along?

I think Valve would wait till all the episodes are over, and then release a box set containing all the episodes. Can't they have a prepaid card sort of thing for steam like all the MMORPGs?

I think EA would be very POed if they weren't allowed to offer an alternative to Steam early on though. If the episodes appear on Steam first, I know that I'll get them there first...

Thats actually a really good idea! Has any one tried asking valve to see if they might do that?

Valve has said that Episode 1 will not be on retail but that they'll probably release packs of 3-4 episodes later on in retail versions.
