a hoax perhaps?

i dunno. i would of thought the logo is copywrited!?

plus the forum only says its for developers.. any attempt to get into the posts brings up with a sh*t load of porn links.... maybe its a ruse set up by Valve as a joke to stop people who are simply guests seeing what the HL3 crew are up to

plus theres a video on digg.com but its bust atm...

Considering the content of the forum, I'm gonna go and say this isn't legitimate. That, and the fact that Valve already had www.halflife3.com registered once, and probably would not allow public access.

good point.. on digg theres a video so naturally i googled HL3 to see whats going on.
plus i doubt valve would use such content as a joke since younger players maybe offended..
hmmm

"You are not supposed to be here, Gordon."

Gman? Epic line.

probably fake
but what if it isn't? Pretty epic

CLEAR!

dont make me bring up the countless arguments over that.

Gabe himself even said they should of been named Half-Life 3: Episode 1, 2, and 3.

And no it's not just me saying this. I just repeat what others have said.

You could concievably say it is Half-Life 3, but as far as I'm concerned it's based on and extends the Half-Life 2 story arc. Thus, being Half-Life 2 Episodes. AMIRITE?
If there we're another full HL game, what exactly would they call it? Half-Life: EXTREME EDITION?

Gabe himself even said they should of been named Half-Life 3: Episode 1, 2, and 3.
But Valve didn't do this, and they're called 'Half-Life 2: Episode 1, 2 and 3'. They may be the Third Half-Life game, but they are by no stretch of nursery level comprehension actually called 'Half-Life 3'.

As for the actual topic of this thread, why would an American developer run its operations on a British domain name? That sticks out bolder than a Red Phone Box in a Hollywood movie.

[Tea]What ho! I say! Has anyone got hot-pants for a game of Radiational Existence Volume Three? See you later, Elevator![/Tea]

should of and what its named now is different if you cant figure that out.

valve never said it was hl3 and you prove yourself wrong by saying " And no it's not just me saying this. I just repeat what others have said." sounds like someone likes rumors.

And if it were called Half Life 3, then what happened to 2?

And if it were called Half Life 3, then what happened to 2?
Err... Half-Life 2 would be called Half-Life 2. We're talking about the Half-Life 2 Episodes being called Half-Life 3.

ok ok ok stop.
the reasons the Episodes are NOT combined to make HL3 are:
1) half life 2: Ep 1. Ep2, Ep3
2) if it was half life 3 in 3 different portions then, i beg you, it would be called Half life 3: part 1, part 2, part 3 OR alternatively Half Life 3: EPSIODE 1, 2, 3
3) If valve have said this so many times, may i see evidence? a quote? a link? a video? a Christmas card with so much as a whisper of information on, that isnt tainted or biased in some way?
4) Tbh, i think that would be a pretty messed up way to bring an epic series to a close. ok fair enough we get to play the games in smaller chunks.. but they are short! i got the orange box ages ago, and i told myself to play ep1 before i started ep2.. and i finished ep1 in a day with EASILY enough time to start and get half way through ep2! so why would valve think they are being clever by deploying the last peice.. the most eagerly awaited piece of the puzzle in a chunk people could finish in a day with countless hours to then debate it on this very forum.

Disclaimer: someone will now prove that Valve HAVE said the Episodes are combined to make HL 3, thus making my whole post pointless, and making me feel a complete dick.

Valve wont do that to us. They said it themselves that HL3 will be a completely different game and will have 3 more episodes associated with HL3.

Oh God, I hope they don't make another episodic series.

Oh, and the HL3 website's old. Been posted somewhere before. The source code doesn't reveal anything, either.

i like the fact they've done something new with the episodes.. but maybe a part of me would prefer waiting the total combined waits of each episode to just have 1 full game.. but then again that game would be HL3.. so i guess they put it in chunks to keep it part of HL2

I think they'll abandon Episodic because people simply don't know how to evaluate it. The Half-Life 2 Episodes are shaping up to be one of the best FPS games ever created, but criticism focuses on each part and says 'well, it's really short...'. The end result seems to be that Valve are forming up and creating huge game bundles, which are absolutely great but beg the question of whether a so called 'monolithic project' isn't actually a lot more doable than they're letting on.

That and I'm already sick of them finding excuses for the Player to lose inventory and cliffhangers every game third are going to get a little old as well before long. Gordon has been knocked out more times than a chloroform addicted member of the English Football squad.

They've taken as long getting the three episodes out as they would have with one game (if not longer). But I do think the three episodes (together) would be longer than a new game. I think it was a good move...

Yes. I can't believe you just asked that.

A short game isn't necessarily bad, but if you can make a game long, and yet still be of the same quality, it's far superior.

well thats what im saying, if eps 1 - 3 were actually just one game, it wouldn't matter if it was long because it would still be good.

I'm surprised that nobody has caught onto the fact that its a co.uk link, since when has Valve moved there Headquarters from Seattle to Bradford?

*looks at developer's forum*

My kind o' developers.

Why would valve have a public development forum... And why would they have a .co.uk address if they're based in seattle?
