When the demo and the real game are out, we're gonna organise get-togethers. Two important factors come into play:

Location Some of us are from the US, some from Europe, and there are even a couple of people from Oz / NZ. It'll be impossible to all play on the same server together because of ping and time differences.

Ranked vs. Unranked Sometimes you just want to have a laugh, and sometimes you want to play hardcore.

Maybe we can split up the clan-list into Euro, US and Oz/Asia to make the first factor easier. Ranked vs. Unranked will come into play when the game is out in stores.

good idea, im on our euro division anyway. We should organise seperate groups and times to play/servers to play on for each of us in our respective areas.

USA-California here

Unranked servers will be where we will be spending our time in the demo most likely, learning both the game mechanic, accuracy, damage system, vehicles etc... but also how we work together as a team, mixing and matching squads, commanders, and squad leaders to find effective combinations.

then when ready we can take to the Ranked servers and show the world the fury that is Hl2.net :)

i suppose if there are too many we'll have to split up the euro and then n.america sides.

for example, what if there are too many people from north america.

we'll have to split them up into west/ east?

actually nah, people can pick what squad they can be in....

I'm USA - New York. There's many a server located here with all the clans, internet cafes, and server providers.

I'll probably be playing unranked early on to get a good feel of the game. However, there's bound to be a larger amount of assholes on them for some time. Ranked servers when I want to up my rank...of course.

So we are having two teams? Europe and the rest of the world? Then those two teams play each other on certain times?

If there're too many europeans we might wanna split it in two groups, non-brits in one and brits in one. Seeing as you're one timezone closer to the yanks.

at this point Im just adding people to Xfire, and when the demo comes out, regardless of ping Im joining their games.

as things progress we may end up splitting due to pings etc, but I would really love to play with a lot of the Euro gamers here regardless. (I can deal with 300 ping if I am having a good time)

It's almost impossible for someone from Europe to play on an American server and vice versa. The pings will skyrocket and the game becomes unplayable. So wars between Americans and Europeans won't work. Too bad tho.

I'm always playing on american servers on CS, and the ping is fine.

Im from US-West Coast. Ill play either server though I prefer to get rank.

There are always exceptions of course. I myself live in Amsterdam, and we're basically on a backbone there, which makes playing on American servers doable. But only the east-coast ones. Pacific servers have 800+ pings for me.

Id rather play on unranked servers to get used to it, but then again by the time the demos out I would of played the demo to death and be good at it allready.. I like the idea of ranked servers, as it makes everyone play more carefully.

You guys got it all wrong, the unranked servers will be paid for and admined by clans for the most part. They're not for practice, and they will probably have less assholes than the official servers.

how do you figure that?
Ranked servers are heavily admined and regulated apparently (they are aiming for the hardcore aspects of the game)

Maybe you should check out <THIS LINK>. Unranked Servers are all non-EA servers.

<shameless plugg> My community will be runnning a top specced bf2 server.
And we are known for our asshole free dc/bfv/css servers. Check link in sig :D<shameless plug out>

AUS here.

That's one...

I use Gamearena quite a bit for BF:V (im in NZ), and get around 100 ping on a 2mb connection. Xtra's NZ servers get around 50-60 for me, and the US i can get around 200 minimum. Europe/UK's a no go.

UK here. :)

There is a university of teeside server with excelent ping for Desert Combat. I expect them to change over to Battlefield 2...

So yeah, I'll probably want to play there since I live fairly near... Anyone who lives in the north of England would probably like that server :)

*BUMP*

Since the demo seems to be going live any minute, I thought I'd bump this thread. Post the servers you play the demo on here!

I doubt there will be ranked servers for the demo.

*ANOTHER BUMP*

OK guys and girls, post the servers you regularly play on in this thread. The more information the better, so try to include an IP number as well. I've had a lot of fun on the Jolt.co.uk servers, altho they start to lag like crazy when they're full (they're confirgured to 64 players).

Don't remember the ip but...

DeZ BF2 Demo NJ Server

Is the one I'm on regularly, no time limit and increased tickets being the main reasons.

I'm now about to install the demo, what servers are most people playing on?

Actually I'll look on Xfire.
