Frequent crashes when saving/loading

Hi,

I've bought HL2: EP1 today, been playing it ever since noon, and the further I got in the game, the more it crashes...

Crashes are most frequent when I use the quicksave button, but after a while the game would even crash at (for me) random times.

I'm playing it on a brand new system, with these specs:

Intel Core2 Quad Q6600 2.4ghz, 4gb RAM, Geforce 8800GTS 320mb, 500gb HD, Windows Vista Home Premium 64bit
Game settings are all on "recommanded settings", everything "High"

All my drivers are up to date, game updates should be up to date too, so what's the problem??

Any work arounds I can use to continue playing the game in a decent manner?
