Ahhh, the recent fuel crisis in Scotland (Possibly Nothern England?) is driving me (rape) bananas.

So, long story short workers at the local oil refinery are on strike and the most recent fuel stores/shipments are about to (or in the case of my home town) have run dry. We'll get imported petrol eventually but whats bugged me.... no, what's ****ed me right off is the people who have made this situation ten times worse than it had to be.

People queueing for mother****ing hours at a time to fill their motors up and taking mother****ing jerry cans to fill. They've bled reserves dry because the majority of them are a bunch of panicky dickheads without the foresight to at least consider that the strike could take 4 weeks worst scenario, so if we all just go about our business as normal and stick to our normal fuel purchasing habits/budgets, we'll be fine.

I feel sorry for people who actually make their living from driving jobs and will suffer more because dizzy 4x4 bitch is a self-righteous assclown who considers her own importance more than others.

I got my 2 and-a-bit weekly ?40 this morning with little issue (although as I said, my home town has NOTHING left - I had to drive a wee bit out of town to a service station, I was a bit worried I'd run out stranded) so I'm fine for a while.

When I do run out - Bus? Train? Cycle? Walk? Nah, Imma get me a mother****ing shotgun and kill roving gangs in the Scottish outback. Radge Max. :E

Oh, and the best bit:

I use up about ?25 a week. I've just filled up ?40 the other day which I will ensure lasts me at least two weeks. I can't believe how ridiculous this whole thing is. The second time in a year.

For every gallon of gas, about 72% of the price goes to the producers of the crude oil from which it's made, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration - producers like Chevron (CVX, Fortune 500), ConocoPhillips (COP, Fortune 500) and BP (BP). Exxon Mobil (XOM, Fortune 500) recently made history by reporting the highest annual profit ever for a U.S. company when it reported 2007 results.

it's slightly more than frustrating for me to see a direct connection between rising gas prices and rising profits for gas companies. If gas was getting drastically harder to drill or more expensive to manufacturer or whatever, then as prices went up profits should stay relatively the same.

So if 72% gets them the highest profits EVER, why can't they lower gas prices and just be in the top 10, or top 50, or top 100 for highest annual profit?

Your post stinks of hypocrisy.

10 quids worth of ?1.17 a litre 98 octane has just lasted me 2 months.

Everyone needs closer place of work and a more efficient vehicle.

The precious nectar!

I appluad those who exasperate this crisis by hoarding petrol. It makes the crisis more serious and helps the striking workers whose rights and dignity is now being concretely affirmed.

man I can listen to you all day ...is it bad that I picture you as Scotty? you can picture me as this guy, I dont mind ..I wish I had a scottish or irish accent ...so many oportunities to roll my "r"s

oh and ya gas is expensive ..paid $1.22 a litre today ... and the alarmists always screw it up for the rest of us ..last time there was a blackout there were lines to get gas at every gas station ..because a few years back almost the entire city was in a blackout that lasted 2 days ..they almost called out the military ..we're not sure what for ..the last time the military came to Toronto it was because they needed to help us dig out from a huge snowstorm

My grandma was telling me that her brother told her that gas is like $3-4 a liter in Germany. I thought, hey, that ain't TOO bad. But, then i remembered 1 gallon=almost 4 liters. I thought "sheesh, how can they afford $~12 a gallon?" Then i remembered, they have a much better transportation system than they do here in the states.

That is why i wish we would stop spending money on Iraq and put it towards a better transportation system. I wish we had a system like they do in DC. DC's transportation system is AMAZING! Anywhere you need to go you can catch the subway. And it is very cheap and runs on electricity.

Psh, you think that's bad. I just paid $1.53/litre the other day! Though, I only just filled it enough to keep me going until Tuesday, which is supposedly the cheapest day.

My beef is that if everyone had just gone about their own business as usual we all wouldn't be in this tight spot right now. I'd only be a hypocrite if I had stupidly rushed out to buy more than I budget for in light of a so called panic. As it happens my tank was drier than a martini two days after the idiots hit the pumps.

Aye, in an ideal world we'd all be able to either work from home or walk five minutes to work. Public transport as I see it will always be an effective option but I do admit my disdain for it a lot of the time.

On the subject of pricing though, a lot of stations have put their price up about 20p a litre because it's inevitable that people are going to pay any price for it. Some places are limiting customers to ?20 only, cash on the spot. It's crazy.

Well shucks Dudley. Funny you say that though, last year in America, I asked a random woman for a light at Seaworld. Turns out she's Canadian and she gace me the exact same line "I can listen to you all day". It would have been awesome if she was 20 years younger. And a model. I must have a seductive voice.

Isn't Scotland a satellite state of Britain?

I read something recently that says that Australia is trying to denounce the Queen, and separate themselves from Britain... and tighten ties with neighbors (evil ones)

oh, but we were talking about Scotland. Sorry. I ..

Nevermind.

Support for a Queen is one of the most ridiculous things I've ever heard of in this modern age. I mean, we are living in the modern age. **** Royalty.

I support any nation who currently "supports royalty" to kindly bump them to the curb, because nobody needs them. They're a crutch. Idols.
