ok, i have;
AMD Athlon 64 3000+
1.8ghz
1gb of RAM
GeForce fx 5200

i get really crap fps on css and i thought u guys (being cleaver) could help me get more because i get 100 in 1.6 but about 60 in css. HELP

with that system, you NEED a new video card....besides its obvious your fps will go down in source, and also 60 fps isnt that bad seeing as you cant thell that from 40 fps

This is my first post from my new, 6600GT equipped computer :D

However, I was running a P4 2.6ghz with an fx5200 before, and you aren't going to get better framerates without a new graphics card. That card is ancient now, going from low-end to obsolete soon.

Get a new card - I recommend the 6600GT like I got if you want a good card but can't afford one of the high-end cards (IE the 6800 and the x800 series).

and there is no way you can compare CS 1.6 FPS to source game fps....you could play HL1 on a 300mhz computer with no video and 32mb PC133 RAM. Source needs at least 4 times that, a decent memory card, and a load of ram....

If you are complaing about only getting 60 fps you need to pull something out of your ass. Whether it be your head or a rabbit, I don't care just get it out of there.

I've got the same card, it sucks.. I'm thinking of upgrading soon but have no idea what to go for

Shippi, if youre still reading this what kind of system specs do you have and are you planning on upgrading.

i cant beleive ur complaning that u ONLY get 60fps i only get 30fps with a 5700le but not to mention its pci

i get 50 fps on my Geforce MX 460 for CS:S and i dun have any problems although i wish to see the DirectX 9.0 effects :)

so where can i get a gd 1 from, for cheap cos i only 14 and have little access 2 money. BTW i live in the UK

make sure when buying you're PSU is good enough, 6xxx series use lots of power, at least 5x the amount yer 5200 wld dream about using.

wot kind of power supply u running?

information can be found on the sticker on the side of yer power supply

list max wattage, brand, and +12v, +5v, & +3.3v

Example

350w Antec SmartPower
+12v/17a +5v/36a +3.3v/28a
