I think I know who he is. GMan is Gordon Freeman himself. Look.

They look so much alike. The Gman looks like an older, more wisened verion of Freeman with combed hair and contacts... Doesn't he?

Furthermore... Gordon Freeman - G-Man

So. My theory is that the G-Man is Freeman coming from the future or something after living through the occupation of Earth, noting where things went wrong, what could have been done, and then putting himself in the position to right those wrongs.

Whaddya think?

Yeh, even though G-man looks like Gordon, but that doesnt mean that G-man is Gordon!!!

Anyway on the side note, if u had played half life 2, u also can see him from chapter 1-11

If you've seen that picture before, you must remember wagenknochen!

G-Man is 100% not Gordon, so will people stop talking about it, you are wrong.

You've fogottern the whole "They both have green eyes" thing. But a valiant attempt, nonetheless.
Oh also, they have four limbs and stand upright. Also they're both mute and have the ability to warp other peoples' perception of time, carry crowbars in briefcases and are seemingly able to use teleportation at will to suit their own ends whilst wearing ludicrously over the top, hi-tech orange jumpsuits.
<Sigh>

I'm sorry to sound so sarcastic - and genuinely, heartily welcome to the forums (and I honestly mean that sincerely) - but I am wondering whether we still get slapped on the knuckles for saying "In before close".

Sorry, dear boy: Did you even read my post?

Em sorry, how did ya know there is crowbar on G-man's briefcase? Who told ya that?

Although in the first HL, there is - I believe - a gun in his briefcase. Although I think that's pretty inconsequential.

Sorry man, theres aint no crowbar in the briefcase.

Look into this info from wikipedia

"The G-Man is always seen carrying a briefcase, and fans have often debated its contents. Using the "no-clipping" cheat, or with the aid of a model viewer, it is possible to see inside his case. Note: Only in HL1.

The contents of the case are as follows:

3 pencils
Several scribbled sheets of paper
A 9mm handgun in a holster
An identity card
A portable computer
It should be however noted that the contents of this briefcase are impossible to see in HL1 and should, in fact, be considered an easter egg."

Oh. My. God.

1. Don't even try proving Gman = teh Gord0n! It's just plain wrong, loser
2. Wrong forum, loser
3. Learn to recognise SARCASM after it's pointed out 2 or 3 times doubleblade.

Its losermeetstheworld who started this thread not me, so why call me a loser?

Show some respect dude. Instead of calling me loser.

I believe he was actually referring to losermeetstheworld, but an easy mistake to make.

On the other hand:

Jesus tap-dancing Christ.

All right... .Whatever u say may be true.

But this is still considered as easter egg.

And wow, looks like u guys are naive to be tricked that Gman is Gordon.... Wow, awesome.

I was in fact referring to the guy with "loser" as part of his name when I said loser. Clearly seen by the fact that I said "2. Wrong forum, loser" and posting in the wrong forum can only be attributed to the OP.

Understand yet?

And wow, looks like only the OP actually thinks that the gman is gordon.... Wow, awesome.

EDIT: I just wrote a list of what the previous posts were about and how sarcastic it all was and just everything, but now it seems you've realised. It took a while, but we got there in the end.

Wow, I've never noticed that before! Perhaps Gordon is the G-man! Or he is his dad maybe!

Also, I think Slick is also the G-man. The G-man has been cloning his loyal subjects, so that a hostile takeover will be easier.
I think Breen is the Einstein scientist from Black Mesa too. And the barnacles from HL1 are the barnacles from HL2!!!

I posit: the G-Man is Valve.

Think about this:

- Valve knows what's going on, and they have almost godly powers within the Half-Life universe. They can do anything and everything but we still do not know exactly what they're planning, or what their engineered future holds. They are the ones who shroud Gordon's future in purest undiluted mystery.

- Their motives and plans are relentlessly speculated about, and millions of theories appear every day - many of them stupid, mad or ridiculous. They constantly appear in the places we least expect them (Darwinia? Who'd have think it?). They often pop up to offer cryptic clues that are over-analyzed into fine white dust.

- They use us to accomplish their goals without ever telling us what is going on. We rage and we smash and we bash and we run and we shoot and we think and we live - but we don't even know what we're fighting for, who we're fighting for, and why we're fighting. We are kept in the dark and our infinite destructive force is directed at whatever Valve/the G-Man chooses to direct it at. But we are never given the facts, or anywhere near the full story.

- Many of the people employed by Valve look exactly like characters from the game.

SHUT UP PEOPLE! YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO TALK! LEAVE NOW! THIS IS RESTRICTED NETSPACE!

*wears full riot police gear and prepares to be stoned*

Its more likely that the g-man looks like Gordon as the person who redesigned/restored the model for both of them wasn't very creative, or that they all start with the same main model and they change certain aspects of each.

Everyone stop saying that the g-man is Gordon, a relative of him or him from a different universe!

It's almost ironic.

Aaaanyway. I believe the G-Man's face (in HL2, that is) was initially modelled on some behavioural psychologist's or something. Possibly the one who did the research the facial animations were based on? don't quote me exactly, but it's something like that.
But then they altered it slightly to give it that "G-Man feel".
Like "That '70s Show". Coming to a TV near you soon! ahem. Sorry.

Laidlaw just replied to my e-mail. He said G-Man looks similar to Gordon so that everybody would flood forums with "G-Man is Gordon" theories, and they could calmly work on Half-Life series. :)

you are to get possibly owned, or dissed by forum readers, but aside that, WHY THE F**K WOULD G-MAN CARRY A F**KING CROWBAR AROUND IN HIS "BREAFCASE"??!!
*ahem*

Good god, some people still not realising that the crowbar/briefcase thing was sarcasm?

Well, as you noted the actual contents you could see by cheats in HL1, and by his original name, as in g-man = the government man, i think back then he was actualoly considered in the storyline to be a secret service dude or something.

It only since they decided to make hl2 that his breifcase contents are considered "easter egg" or "never happended", i think this is because they actually made hl2 storyline up as they went along. Well parts of it like the g-mans story anyway. And they changed him from government agent to God knows what else(friendly green man?"). They also ditched the original briefcase with its blackmesa logo, but maybe the is because in hl2 he is no longer at/ or dealing with black mesa. But for all we know he could still be a government man, who was a secret service dude of executive or something placed far above breen's office. We will have to wait and see about that anyway,,

But as to specuate as to what his contents of his briefcase was in hl1 and still is now, i believe it must be and/or contain a super portable teleport array.

Thats what i believe anyway.

Edit: also the g-man might look like him in hl2. but in hl1 the g-mans face was drastically different, he had wise hardened oval shaped eyes, black hair-litterally, and dark blue eyes (actually like he has in hl2). But with some of the changes to his face he looks alittle like gordon yes, and like sulkdodd said its valve whos in control and the story IS being made up AS it goes along. IT wouldnt surprise me if they read our forum and actually take some of other peoples ideas (if they are any good) and turn it into reality. Anyway whatever g-man is , wether a executive agaent of america, or Alien rebel agent, i dont think the gman is gordon. Besides it would be a real messed up story , not make sense very much of how things happened and it would basically be FRIGGIN BORING<

ALso another note be that g-man has aged abit-like kliener and Eli, he has a few greys, in his once black bonce, he maybe human afterall...

Short Recoil mk. II!

IMO he keeps useful props in his briefcase.
e.g. when posing as a government man in HL1 it has official documents and I.D. in it in case some grunt wants to see paper before following orders.

In HL2? Who knows? Documents to get rebels to cooperate perhaps.

Of course maybe Valve did just change it as they went along, but that doesn't mean it can't also fit into the plot.

And anyway, G-man's whereabouts are still unknown.

Well, I dont think G-man IS Gordon.
