Gabe Newell to be Honoured with BAFTA Fellowship

Valve's CEO and co-founder Gabe Newell is to be honoured with a British Academy of Film and Television Arts Fellowship Award at this year's at this year's British Academy Games Awards for his exceptional contributions to gaming. The awards will be held on the 5th of March and are to be hosted by Irish comedian Dara Ó Briain.

Mr. Newell is not the first video game producer to receive the award. Previously Fellowship Awards have been given to Peter Molyneux, Will Wright and Shigeru Miyamoto of Black & White, SimCity and Mario fame respectively.

Finally although no Valve game has been nominated for a BAFTA this year (last year Portal 2 took Best Game, Best Design and Best Story) the controversial Source game Dear Esther has been nominated for five awards: Artistic Achievement, Audio Achievement, Best British Game, Best Debut Game and Nigel Carrington who played the narrator has been nominated for Best Performer.

Congratulations to Mr. Newell on his achievement and we hope he continues his contributions to video gaming for a long time to come.

Not until Gaben stops using this "ricochet 2" code words and this hardware push fad dies down. Which the later isn't going to be for a while. They seem to love it.
