Some of you may have heard of the anti-video games lawyer, Jack Thompson. If not, read the following:
Jack Thompson is an attorney in the state of Florida in the United States. He is reknown for his anti-videogaming crusade, in which he manipulates findings to find non-existant nefarious causes within the videogaming realm. Unfortunately, his ignorance is only surpassed by his arrogance. However, he will never admit his faults - rather circumventing the whole by manipulating and morphing his arguments to make it appear as if he were in the right.
He has targeted the game 'Manhunt', saying that the game caused someone to murder someone else. He then goes berserk, saying that all gamers are drug addicts and want nothing more than to kill and kill and kill. He's even targetted The Sims 2, claiming that the developers worked with the mod community to create a 'Nude Sims Patch'. If he had done his research, he would have found out that game developers never work with 3rd party companies or help them develop things such as nudity patches.
He also says that the game Halo 2 is a sniper training game. Again, had he done some research, he would have found out that Halo 2 is another First-Person Shooter. There are very, very few times where you have the opportunity to snipe your opponents. Even if you did, sniping, along with many other skills, cannot be learned through gaming. I'd like him to explain how moving a joystick and pressing a button teaches you how to load a gun, cock it, aim steadily, fire at a target, release an empty clip and load a new one in.
Remember the Washington, D.C. sniper? JT says that the sniper trained on Halo 2, despite it being well-known that the man was ex-military.
If you email him, he responds with incredibly rude insults which make it sound like he didn't even bother reading your message. In fact, sometimes he will go out of his way to find out your phone number and ring you up to insult you personally.
