WONT SOMEONE PLEASE THINK OF THE ....err ..ANIMALS!!!

video games are being portrayed as the cause of a much graver threat; namely, the decline in Australian pet ownership.

As Australian Veterinary Association President Kersti Seksel told the Sydney Morning Herald (and any other outlet that would listen) today's kids "interact more by playing computer games and less by going out there and throwing the ball to a dog." Why is this a problem, exactly? According to Seksel, "We need to learn people skills, physical skills, and sitting in the lounge room with a computer doesn't teach you that.

is there anything that isnt blamed on video games?

this just in:

video games responsible for nintendo thumb!

video games causes global warming

video games caused america to ass rape iraq

video games critics are causing Stern's blood pressure to go up and up and up

btw these people need to be rounded up, clubbed over the head, ground into tiny bite sized morsels and sold to dog food companies "New Alpo now with more crazy conservatives"

The world needs to invent another new entertainment medium. Printed books, sensation novels, moving images, violent movies, computer games. It's about time for the next chapter instead of prolonging the present one any longer.

Sex bots.

That's really all there is left to do.

i play alot of games, but i still love animals, i dont see a problem

bwahahahahahaha,When I read the first sentence and saw that pic,I lol'ed in real life.

What about other pets? We own two cats, but you don't go outside to toss your ball to those. And fish? Mice? etc.

Pet ownership =/= people skills and physical activity.

I play games too and I have a dog

I never feed or take him out, so he learned to make his own meals and piss on the toilet. So I think I made his life better by ignoring him

I forsee "feelies" like in brave new world (tacticle and visual sensation in a movie), 3d holographic films and games, and finally matrix-esque computer>brain interface programs.

Hey the bright side of the equation is since most pet owners do not spay or neuter their pets anyway, causing over population of strays or overcrowding in animal shelters, the decline in pet ownership will result in less euthunised animals.

Gaming FTW!

it also means less dogs being adopted at the humane society meaning they're euthanised sooner rather than later

I fail to even come close to understanding the connection between gaming and lack of love for the pets.....oh wait, I know...

*Plays GTA3...*
*Boots dog out window*

Pff, sif correlation.

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm gonna go play my blood elf and kill some more cats.

/Looks at location.

I own;

1 Cat
1 Bunny
1 Cockatoo
20ish Budgies
5 Cockatiel's
20ish Misc fish

pfft. Now come on the people skills and physical activity doesn't exactly apply and I have a lot of animals here.

Pornography galore. Christians will have a field day :D

I've been playing games for 12 years now, and only in the last two have i gotten two pets from the RSPCA and Blue Cross respectively. So in my case that couldn't be more wrong.

Easy solution, video games about owning a pet. Twice the fun, half the mess.

And how come no one listens to bob barker!
