If you could take any game and make it into a movie, which Game would it be?

Who would you cast?
What changes would you make?

Big Rigs.

I'd cast Vin Deasel as the player, and Michael Douglas as the A.I. that doesn't work. No changes. It's two hours of Deasel driving through buildings and out of the map. The end credits is just a picture of a cup with "YOU ARE WINNER!" written on it.

The Movies or The Sims!
OK, seariously...hmm...hard to say. Maybe Deus Ex.

I'd take the shittiest game and make a movie with it. Why? Because if you take a good game, it's going to turn out shitty thus ruining the franchise. With an already shitty game, you're not hurting anyone's feelings.

Max Payne done by the likes of Rodriguez, only problem is Sin City did that.

Cast: Clive Owen as Payne.

Possibly the Soul Calibur series. Although it would be pretty hard to get right. I see it as a mixture of films like Hero and House of Flying Daggers and doing what the X-men film did for the X-men series.

Maybe I'd filmify Darwinia and totally trash it, just to piss people off.
Monkey Island, with someone completely unknown as Guybrush Threepwood and Brian Blessed as LeChuck.

Excellent!
They shouldn't do a live action one though - either CG or animated (in the style of The Curse of Monkey Island, natch).

I reckon a Grim Fandango film could work alright. CG, obviously and very true to the proper game style, otherwise it's pointless.
I once worked out that you could fairly easily use the game plot, if you edited it properly (certain bits which centred around puzzles needn't be there for example). That said, it'd be much better to have soimething set in the Grim depiction of the Land of the Dead. A similar sort of noir-style plot, just not exactly the same.

And that is how Daikatana became a movie.

Tim Burton?

Certainly, I think adventure games are oddly overlooked when people say 'such and such a game would make a good film'. Generally they have better plots and characters (because those are the whole point of the game) and their storylines translate a lot better into script format (since they're structured like a book or film and not like walk through a level killing monsters). Games like the Monkey Island and Broken Sword series, Beneath A Steel Sky, etc would be awesome.

Tim Burton could definitely turn Grim Fandango into a film masterpiece. But everyone who hasn't played the game would think it's a spin-off of Corpse Bride.

Freedom Force (the first one, not the one with Nazi's, thats too cliche')

As for in the opposite direction, I would like a game loosely based on films 'Cannonball Run'. Guest stars Jay and Silent Bob and Ben Affleck (?)

The Movies.

Man, what an awesome movie that would make.

Remake DOOM with Tom Sizemore

Yes I know he's total screwball.

I feel that Deus Ex would make a terrific mini-series. There's too much in the game for a single movie to do it justice, and the story isn't really tailored for a trilogy of movies, so the best place for it would be in mini-series format like Band of Brothers or Taken.

The timing of a Deus Ex mini-series is very good right now. Its "war on terror and corruption" meld well with the current situations in the middle east and the United States. The Grey Death virus that is central to the game's plot is eerily similar to the rumored bird flu epidemic. There are also many other moments in the game that would provide a social commentary on current events if it were translated to a mini-series format. :D

The game also boasts a huge supporting cast of secondary characters that would help fill in the episodes and create some interesting dialogue and deepen the conspiracies.

There are 13 missions in Deus Ex, but some of them are a lot smaller than the rest. Therefore it is entirely possible to condese these missions over a regular mini-series standard of 10 episodes at 2 hours each (leaving about 70 minutes for each mission in the game).

This is if the series will follow the storyline of the original Deus Ex and not stray from it. If I was creating the series I would stay close to the outline of the game, but because there are different gameplay choices (i.e. choosing who lives and who dies), there's some creative leeway in that regard.

The three endings of the game would also get some recognition. The first choice would be the one that the developer's chose as the basis for the 2nd game, while the other two endings would be extras for the eventual DVD box set. :E

As for the cast, the core would be of a lot of relatively unknown actors (this way production costs would be lower). Although depending on how things are set up, there could exist the possibility of cameos from well-known actors to play smaller roles.

Fahrenheit or Mafia... or Half-Life... or Half-Life 2, or GTA series, or Max Payne(yeah I know it's coming), Splinter Cell(which is also coming, yay!) and so on... :)

Deus Ex. And I know Columbia pictures or some other studio bought the rights to the movie years ago. I wonder why they haven't done the movie yet!!!

With the right cast and director, it should be a great one. But please, don't even consider Keanu Reeves as JC Denton.

Max Payne would have been great too, but we already have Payback and Sin City.

Freedom Fighters?

Hey, I could see it happening.

This is what I was aiming for. Now someone make it.

How 'bout... lesse... what's storydriven that I've played recently...

...

...

Psychonauts, but that would make a bad movie. The art design switches so much. It's suitable for a game, but the moron majority would simply be 'Hey, what? We're watching a different movie now?'

...

...

Nothing that translates well to the big screen.

Starcraft.

The cinematics in it are AMAZING!

A Warhammer 40K movie would be awesome if done well.

Otherwise, i'd love to see a C+C movie. {Non-Genrals}

Star Wars : Knights of the Old Republic D:...

Sure you kind of play as a nameless character but... something could be done to work around it.

Giants : Citizen Kabuto, it could play out like Pulp Fiction... with several interlocking stories.
