The Episodes are Half-Life 3 in the sense that they make up the 3rd major game in the Half-Life series.

See the only reason they called em HL2 episodes instead of HL3 is so that we wouldn't have to change the site name. Valve are thoughtful that way.

You people realize that if the episodes made up HL3, they would be called Half-life 3: episode 1, etc. This article that you probably saw, http://pc.ign.com/articles/711/711560p1.html, is over two years old. In recent news, Valve has stated that episode 3 will end the current HL2 story arc. They didn't say it will end the HL3 story.

And I think ep3 will give a small hint as to who the G-man works for. Maybe it will set up for hl3.

I'm sure we will get hints, but nothing else. The g-man story arc is much like the g-man himself, in that it's on a totally different time schedule than the rest of the HL universe.

Valve will continue to do this to you until the series ends, at which point you will be left with no concrete answers and will spend your days posting G-man threads across multiple boards.
