Well, now that you actually know what the hell is going on with Gordon and Gman, I think it's time to hypothesize Half-Life 3's intro...nothing huge, just where Gordon will be dropped off in the beginning.

A big part of me says Gordon'll end up right where he left off ; Gman's "office". Big black square with a white entrance that slowly fades into a personal office room. Gman will walk in and sit down quietly, shuffle some papers around while you're still experiencing the side effects of slow warp, dizzyness and imobility. After regaining your senses, Government Man begins his creepy, mysterious chatter, and thus the game continues from a private military installation.

I'd hate to be thrown into a new world again, like on the subway in the beginning of HL2 ; although it's fun to see a new scene for a change, I really hope that HL3 explains the story a -lot- more in depth. It went from awakening in Hl1, continuation in Hl2, and now I fear Hl3 will be the end of the series ; tying up every loose end and revealing the Gman once and for all. Mishaps on my theory are probably rampant, but feel free to post your own speculations of Hl3.

Hmm... I am hoping that HL3 will indeed answer all the questions created by HL2.

I don't feel like we do...
Also, I think the setup of G-Mans office in a military base is a bit...mundane, given all the weirdness we've seen, and how much the world has been turned upside-down, in HL2. I think something a bit more out-there would be most appropriate

I think Gman will be talking to you while the game shows you flashbacks from HL2 and then a scene from later on in the game, but it's so weird that it's not really a spoiler. (just like they did HL1)

And then you'll be dropped off somewhere.

Somehow I think Valve will turn whatever anyone think's upside-down. I just don't think they will agree on dropping him off in another adventure and let the player do a re-run of HL2. Then again, Gordon being dropped into a transit/subway has been an ongoing introduction :\.

I wanna see the gman use his lightsaber
seconded. I don't think it's possible for us to speculate about HL3, since there are so many possibilites already...

exactly...I have a million guesses and probably none of them are right....but still some gman lightsaber pwnage on some headcrabs would be uber tight

The future is very hard to predict. Especially with an ending like HL2's. We can only guess...

exactly....except for the lightsaber pwnage...thats a given

speaking of pownage....anyone seen The decline of video gaming 1, 2, and or christmas special?

ya i've seen them...but that was way off topic

Personally I think Gorden's gonna get dropped off at another trainstation. I think Valve's got this while symbolisum thing going on with that like the coming of the hero or something like that. I mean gorden's kind of a deus ex machina just pops up out of no where and saves the world.

I don't know, I think it would be nice if, in HL3 the Gmain tells Gordon that in order to save Humanity he needs to help the combine, only to find out that he kills all of his friends accidentatly.

Also in HL3 the person that tells you to get out or something of that sort will be in the start.
In HL1 - Eli Vance tells you to get to the top.
In HL2 - That one girl tells you to get to out of there after saving that guy.

You can quote me on that ^_^

Hey you never know. After beating the game I couldn't help but get the impression that the next game would be far more dark and desolate then the previous ones. The thing is this is the big one of sorts the sum up of everything, where every move counts. I think there's gonna be a huge war/uprising of the human race against the combine, then seeing the human's example xen and other "occupied" worlds will come into the fight to help take down the combiine. It could really go either way i'm really not too sure myself, I guess we should just wait and see.

Possibly. I mean its not going to be hard for the humans to overthrow the rest of the combine forces around the world, with the citadel destroyed and the combines connection with earth cut completley the overwatch troops are left leaderless and confused.

Here's a weird one for ya...

So how about if the humans rise up and over take the combine, only to turn around and enslave the Vortigaunts? Possibly in HL3 you could fight against humans to free the Vortigaunts. I think they would also change the setting as to not play in city 17 again.

And Yes, In the beginning of HL3 you will be riding on some, train/tram/subway/skyrail.

I like what the original poster said about following the G-Man into his "office" and have him explain one or two things before the game starts. However, it shouldn't be a military office but something crazy like another dimension. I have a feeling it will be this courtroom setting (G-Man as our lawyer or something), it should only last a minute or two. Then the G-Man will say goodbye, dissapear (perhaps we'll never see him again) and then our new employer will drop us off on our new assignment.

If we return to Earth, I imagine another 10 years will have passed. This time a different species controls Earth. It's darker, and even less inviting than City 17. And it will go from there.

At least that's what I think.

Hmm...idea sprung from my pooper.

What if...a thousand years passes. And the combine pooned Earth. Or something pooned earth. And Gordon is put on a train (gotta agree, the train thing is consistent) except...high tech? Dunno, would be an open invitation to new weapons, though. Valve likes making original weapons.

I didnt save him, he lie dead on the floor.

I hope we don't get a stupid someone stands up and answers all questions ending

I think Gordon and the GMan should sit down for a lengthy game of chess at the beginning of the next game.

That actually would be quite a good start...The power of the minds then when HL3 ends one of them gets checkmate...
