I think that half-life source gameplay is way better than original especially with source high definition pack. Graphics is amazing and physics really improves gameplay. what do you think? By the way, I have original Half-life, and i just downloaded source patch. does anyone know how to install it. thanks. give you opinion please.

The source patch? Half-life Source is a stand alone game on Steam, it doesn't require a patch. The original Half-life is a separate game. I'm afraid I have no idea what this 'source' patch is, you've provided little information.

I found the biggest difference was the lighting. Makes some areas look better, some worse. Physics don't affect the game much at all except making the deaths of many of the creatures look silly. One nice touch is that you can have as many scientists and guards following you at once as you like. One bad touch is how silly the corpses of assassins look if you kill them while they're cloaked.

I'm looking forward to Black Mesa Source, myself.

so are a lot of people... But heres the thing people dont realise, hl1 and black mesa are gonna seem very different, while most people are saying its gonna be better because its gonna be better graphics... But they arent just making texture resolution better and facial animation technology, they are changing so much, theres gonna be different type of creatures along with the older ones, new weapons, and probably different kinds of characters. The biggest thing is level design, its not like every room is going to have the same size and shape as the original, in fact, some areas will probably be very different than the original and you couldnt compare them..

half life source is ok because its the same good ol' hl1 with some nicer features and lighting, even though i wish valve could done a little more like make textures higher def, change facial animation on chracters, but black mesa source is a remake on a whole new level, and they are pracitcally building the thing from scratch so its not meant to compete against hl1 directly in its design, but to basically take the story and setting and rebuild it, not just give it a makeover

Right, BM:S a total conversion of HL2. Which is why gameplay will be HL2-oriented, as opposed to the seemingly faster running Gordon of the Quake engine. So granted it will be basically a completely new game. Also, I don't expect the level design to be pixel-for-pixel from the original, so my expectations aren't stupendously high.

I was a little disgruntled with the initial high-def HL1 in which they seemingly upped textures slightly, and changed a couple skins, and that was it. Backgrounds/water effects/wall & floor textures/everything else remained the same.

Ergo, I look forward to BM:S

WTF? When I was a member of their forums they most certainly said that there would be no new weapons (With the exception of having the option of an MP5 or an M4 skin for your automatic weapon) and no new enemies. Where the hell are you getting this info?

Well, i saw there will be an M4 and hl1 doesnt have an m4 so i put the two and two together.... Someone on the forums told me there would be some new enemies, not a lot, but he wasnt part of the team or anyone really THAT important... eitehr way, im right about my point, so please don't attack because i 'maybe' wrong about some minor thing... The black mesa gameplay is clearly going to be much different than the way hl1 played out...

HL1 did have an m4 in the high def pack , which is why there is an option between mp5 and m4 , they both do the same thing in game though.
