Well, haven't been here in a while =/
Figured I'd show up for once, doubt I was missed XD

Regardless, I put Half-Life onto my crappy Toshiba DVDx4090, and it runs.

Which is good, cause I've notice some new things other than before.

1. I <Finally> found where the mouth of a Hound Eye is =\. I might be a bit late, but I FOUND IT XD, my question on this, what are the holes on the side of the Hound Eye? My guess is that they emit that pulse or whatever.

2. Have any of you found Hound Eye, dead, with its eye lid closed?
I mean, I killed one of the first ones in Unforseen Consequences, and its eye was closed, yet, all the others died with their eyes open O_O.

3. I found crates around the ladders in the silo in Balst Pit, they don't have them in the PS2 version. It seems that the PS2 version was made easier, like the lock on etc. AND the machine gun is (or looks) different.

4. There are other things, but also, the X-Box version of HL2, had lower texture quality right? Are we worried that the same thing will happen with EP 2, and the Orange Box with the 360?

Am I rambling? Or happy to be back?

I remember you. Perhaps not missed, but I remember you. ;)

1. I have always imagined those slits to be "gills." They could easily be sonic emitters, however. It is worth looking into.

2. I have seen a houndeye with its eyelid closed.

3. Never played the PS2 version outside of multiplayer and a little bit of Decay, so I wouldn't know.

4. The videos I've seen for Episode 2 on 360 look pretty good. Pretty much the same as PC.

The PS2 version had new models and textures, one of which being the SMG becomes an M4.

And there are a few level changes. For instance, they added water to a room that you fall into to negate fall damage. I've also heard that if you wait in the Lambda Reactor a grunt (Adrian) shows up and you can kill him. I'd bet that's rubbish though.

1.I thought they emitted the wave from the blue lines on they're backs.

2.I have also seen them with closed eyelids.

3.I don't care for 3. and 4.

4.So there is no 4.

Ps:The mouth of the houndeye is easy to find.

1. I don't know.

2. See Opposing Force (Welcome to Black Mesa, of1a4b).

3. Crates slow downs the player a bit in the original version. They probably decided to remove it for console version(s).

4. Unlike PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 has an advanced texture memory. Developers no longer have to worry about high-resolution textures.

Note: PlayStation 2 Port seems to be based on first version of the SDK (see in-game physics). I think Dreamcast and PlayStation 2 levels are same.

Hmm, well thanks alot.

A couple other things wanted to bring up, if I can remember O_o

AHH YES, some of you may remember my thing about the Grunt AI, well. They must be smarter in the PS2 version, or atleast they never did anything as stupid as this;

We've Got Hostiles, you enter a room with two grunts and a couple Barnacles, one located over a staircase. The elite grunt (red hat) comes down the stairs to the barnacle, I kill him before the barnacle east him.The next grun comes down the same set of stairs, I kill the barnacle this time, and he lands safely (Read what he does next) He walks up to the stairs, to the railing there, watches me for two seconds, goes down the stairs (So I can't see him and Vice Versa) Chucks a grenade, You hear it roll, it doesn't get over the stairs. . . KABAMM!!! Meatchunks everywhere =\.

Idiots much?

Another thing, when blowing the hell out of the Tentacle in Blast Pit, there's a ladder into the hold below. I can't remember, but last time I checked, there was no ladder in the PS2 Version =\. And when I get a PS2 (No, I don't have one right now, used to just play the PS2 Version at a friend's. . . you can bet I went over quite frequently) I'll check out that Adrian thing, the problem with that, you still gotta protect that scientist, and until you enter that core, his death triggers game over =\

OH!
I was just in MSN, aparently a friend of mine found grunts on a cliff face. . . in Xen, they were "Hayden says:
they were like, talking too
Hayden says:
about life.... in the real world"

Anyone got any verification on this? Screenies perhaps? It was in the PS2 version though, so perhaps not in the PC version?

You realize it is a console FPS game, right? Gearbox had some smart ideas (see the game content) for the soldier AI, but Valve probably never let them follow their own path.

There are no (alive) soldiers on Xen. Only bad part of the PS2 Port is the beginning of the game, where Gordon can't move during the tram ride. However this can be changeable with a small fix. In short, PS2 version rocks.
