Has Steam changed the backup procedure?

A couple of weeks ago, I backed up my Steam games from the Steam menu and the file it produced for me was a single EXE that I burned onto DVD.

Just now, I backed up my latest purchases, and this time it consists of a folder for the DVD filled with SIM, SIS and SID files.

Did I do something wrong first or second time, or has Steam simply changed the way backups are created?

They changed some stuff with the backup in this update. It's probably why it's different now.

Yeah, I see. Sounds about right to me. I just prefer consistency, you understand?
