Heat is one of the, quite possibly the greatest crime drama ever...

Yet I don't understand why you would need to make a game form of some kind. The article says it'll either be a prequel or a sequel. De Niro, Kilmer, and Pacino are in talks to do it. But...I just don't understand why. Obviously, we've had a boatload of movie tie-in games, even movies that came out years ago (Heat is a perfect example, 1995). The true saving graces are Michael Mann himself (writer/director of Heat) is involved with the talks and Gearbox is set with the project.

Like usual, cautious optimism.

Where's the f***ing van??!!

But seriously, these movie to game things really have to stop. First Resevoir Dogs, now this...

Tell that to Lucas Arts! And Reservoir Dogs, I saw details on this game and it looks idiotic.

Heat is one of my all time favorite movies. That movie just kicks so much ****ing ass. That 20 minute shoot-out in the street is one of the highlights of the film industry. Insanely realistic, Insanely violent, and Insanely "insert another adjective". Insane!

If they can make a great game out of this license, I'm buying. I won't buy it until I read a great review though, and I won't hold my breath since it could be years before this game comes out.

heat was such a good movie...the game really needs to be good then to impress me.

Dumbest idea since Scarface...or Reservoir Dogs...or 50 Cent: Bulletproof. These GTA clones need to go somewhere and die. Crime/action games are getting so predictable and boring these days, just like the consoles themselves (with notable exceptions like the Wii and certain games for each of the other systems).

I'll reserve judgement until I have seen the game somewhat developed. What about The Godfather? Clone or not, that game is a huge hit.

Only one thing to say to that

Hahaha! Forgot about that one. And as far as I am concerned, it sucks too. Bad idea messing with Coppola man....

Actually, It's quite good.

It does the license justice atleast.

The Godfather game is shit. Well ... to be fair it's mediocre. The fact that it's trying to be The Godfather is the travesty. It doesn't do it justice at all ... it's just a GTA clone (a relatively shitty one) with the skeleton of the Godfather story laid on top of it. It is awful, one of the worst movie tie ins I've ever played.

Play it first, then judge.

Heat sucks, they should make a Red Heat movie.

You misread my post. I played it quite a bit, I didn't finish it because it sucked but I probably played close to 5 hours. The game was generic, bland, and pretty much horrible. The whole way the game was set up completely contradicted the Godfather source material. They put classic characters into stupid scenarios (such as having Michael ... or even worse Fredo hanging out of a car shooting a slew of "enemy" cars). They gave great characters some really generic lines as well, the writing behind the game was pretty bad.

Oh yeah ... the driving ... don't get me started on how terrible the whole driving aspect was. As stupid as jacking random cars is in the Godfather universe, random ramps placed along the road like lame "unique stunts" is just disgusting.

The only positive aspect was the extorting the stores, but that got repetitive fairly quickly. Even if it wasn't for the ass raping of the license, the game still wasn't any good. Another piece of shit EA cash-in.
