I tried to spawn a buggy with the console command "impact 82", but accidentally typed "impact 81".

Because of that I got these huge, glowing red blocks hovering above my shoulders and I don't know how to get rid of them.

Any help would really be appreciated.

EDIT EDIT: It was impulse 81 , not impact 81.

this is real joke right::hmph: ?
let me laught more 500 times

you always can restart the level or just type no clip in console and move out and later type no clip agian to walk normally (cant....resist..to lauGHT! ahhahahahahahahahaha):dozey:

I really can't see what's so funny in it.

Maybe I didn't explain it clearly:
I can move freely, but these red blocks are hanging above me, just in the top part of the screen. According to texts in the console they are some kind of shader test tools or something like that.
I've restarted the level, restarted the whole HL2, but the cubes remain.

They don't keep me from playing, but they disturb me. A lot.

Any way I could reset the settings?

btw capteeni, are you a finn?

oh, i see. i was talking my owns...well i dont know what you have done and yes i am fin

Nope, that didn't do anything.

Isn't there any "all-mighty reset-command"?

Aw scheiss! I've been talking about "impact", but it's impulse!

impulse 81, that's what got those horrid cubes on me.

Only bit of information I've found with google is
"and don't type impulse 81 , this will generate a big Error sign above your head (can be seen in the thirthperson look)"
found it here: http://halflife2.filefront.com/info/hl2cheats_expand

ubemaps are best tested by using the “impulse 81” console command. This replaces the current weapon model with a set of spheres, each with different reflective surfaces. By moving around the level it is possible to see what cubemap is being applied at that position in space at any given time, as well as if that cubemap accurately describes the area’s lighting and color.
To be more detailed, 9 spheres, each with their own textures, aligned in the center of the screen. They disappear after a re-load. It's weird that you get undoable red blocks. This makes me believe... Half-Life 2: Pirated Edition?

Anyway, here are a couple of possible solutions:

1. Load a save before you typed in impulse 81, or start a New Game, from the very first chapter.

2. Re-install the game.

P.S. This will teach you not to use cheats.

Yes, I've been reading about those "six spheres replacing current weapon" everywhere, but I got only these two red glowing boxes.

No, mine is a very special HL2 Retail Edition - Last Time Updated in January Maybe.
(been offline since)

Well, gotta try everything. Because I'm offline for following weeks, I can't re-install.

And what makes your retail HL2 special?

And it's 9 spheres, not 6. And you don't get two red blocks, you get an Error message, i.e. the sphere models are not found in the game, meaning your HL2 doesn't have the sphere models. I.e. it's a Rip. :)

Wrong ^-^

There was another impulse command (102 if I remember correctly) that spawned a skull. And everyone on the server was laughing about it, but me and two other guys only saw big red error boxes. This was on HL2DM so we all had legal versions. A missing model doesn't make for a ripped version.

There are any number of reasons as to why the error message will show up... it could just be a bug in the model loading mechanism.

I wasn't wrong. If an error shows up when loading a certain model, I can be 50% sure the game is either ripped manually or pirated.

However, as mentioned in the above post, it could be a bug. I think this thread teaches not to:

Get "special" editions.
Use cheats.

:)

He probably means the Collector's Edition you know :p.

I think this guy just found the new monsters from lost coast

I've looked everywhere for the command you entered. To be honest I've never heard of this...did you activate the hitboxes to be visible or something?

And maybe this site might help you Try this

EDIT: Hold up...WTF it's censored. Is there something about that page thats taboo for some stupid reason here?

hl2 world.com and hl2.net are sworn enemies. Never noticed?

Why all these petty unexplained rules and customs? We should be joining together as HL fans instead of enemies.

I find that this place is fun to talk in but if I want any tech support answers all I get is "you suck" and "ha ha". For that I go to HL world.com.

Lets put it this way:
:D :D :D No, mine is a very special HL2 Retail Edition:D - Last Time Updated in January Maybe. :D :D :D

It is all normal retail edition, bought in 2004 from http://www.mikromaakarit.com , played through instantly and now messed around with.

I found this line at http://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/PreviousReleaseNotes :

Version 1.02.00
# The impulse 81 command to check cubemap placement should now function correctly.

I think that, and those nine spheres, have been added after I updated Steam last time.

Well, those cubes are gone now, they disappeared yesterday. So that's all about it.

That really seems to be true and it pisses me off too.
Thank you for your sincere intent to help.

Btw, sucks pretty deeply if this forum wipes off the name of another HL2 site off your message. Sworn enemies? Hey, it's only a computer game!

Ha! I was thinking it was the hitbox code. But I never tried it and you used the wrong word. But looks like you're good to go.
