Hey im new to Half Life 2

Hey everyone, hows it going?

Im new to Half Life 2 and I just got the game yesterday. I didnt even open it! I am just wondering if I need to download something for the game or maybe like have to install a patch to make it run better?

Well hope some people can help!

I'm new to the board but I've had the game a good while. Everything is pretty much taken care of, any updates you need are done automaticaly, or prompted to you at least.

Just play the game and you'll wish you'd never asked that question
Half Life 2 is as fun as any game you would hope for. Install it, play it and enjoy the experience.
Then come running back to the forums to search every bit of info on the game... I bet.

well if you haven't already figured it out, you need Steam in order to play the game.
once Steam is installed, the neccessary updates will automatically start downloading when you restart Steam.
there are mods for the Source engine you might want to look into...such as Garry's mod.

it is definitely a very worthy sequel to one of the best games ever IMHO.
its kind of hard to compare the first Half Life game to the second one...they are both great in their own little ways but as far as games go today, Half Life2 is definitely on top.

It's good. It's real good. If not the best game of all times then definately in the top three. As far as First person shooters go, I'd say it is the best.

You have to make sure you have the latest version of Direct X and the graphic drivers of course, but other than that Steam takes care of most of it.

Once you are done playing the game the first time, you can try out SMOD for more guns and all.

Half Life 2 is not the best game it is very wicked kick ass but how can you compair it to all the games it da world like need for speed or spider man they are diferant types of games but HL2 kicks big anus and as for mods garry's mod is cool you can make coops and missons on it and every time you play you find some thing new but also you can run the gmod on counter strike sourse HL2 and HL2DM

Half life2 is well worh your time. You should play half life 1 if you havent already.

It's not completely necessary to play Half-Life before 2, but it does help the fun factor out ALOT. Both games are great, and personally, I think Half-Life 2 is in the top 3 best games ever. Up there with Starcraft and Final Fantasy 1.
