will HL 2 be released in the uk at the same time as in the US,

P.s. sorry if there is already a thread like this, but i did look and could'nt find one.

Yeah, It will be, atleast Valve is gonna try to release it simultanioulsy around the world.

It'll be released worldwide via Steam and on the same day release in America.

A couple of days later it will be released in most of the rest of the world.

But I don't want to download it. I want to touch the disk, read the manual, and lovingling caress the box.

EDIT: ...and NOW!

If there's a 3 month delay between the US release and the UK release because of "localisation" I'll be rather angry.

The same thing happened with Invisible War.

Yes, there is nothing that can replace the feeling like running down the streets screaming "I godt it!".

But, if we are looking at weeks delay, I will have to download it, but it will take a war on my connection? And btw, I don't have a DVD device :(

It will be released in America and most likely one to two weeks later until it's out in the UK. Personally I'm getting it through Steam so I've got it first and then I'll get my physical copy when it's out in the UK.

So... most European as well as some US HL2 fans will all by trying to download it via Steam within the 1st day or 2? Sounds painful :|

Sounds like downtime for steam again again. Impressive servers if they can handel the deman.

Impressive servers, or one hell of a lot of servers.

I'm fairly sure that Valve will pull out all the stops to make the HL2 release go smooth.

I would LOL if its like starwars episode2, where people in the UK get to play it like 3-6 hours before people in the US

Well, since Valve were looking for a simultaneous worldwide (or America and Europe, to be more precise) release back last year, I hope they're still adhering to it now.

I hope to God Valve keep to their promise (well, okay... vague statement at least) and successfully pull off a simultaneous release. I can't wait a month!!

...and that's just how long it'd take to download.

Uk resident here as well but I'm not to worried.

They released the bink videos using BitTorrent and I think that went extremly smoothly so fingers crossed we'll be seeing a preload BitTorrent download a week before the green light!

If that happens then I'll be downloading the torrent and using my HL2Coupon (proud owner of a Asus9800XT) to get straight in to it before I buy the Special box set.

I hope not BitTorrent, it gives me the same error message IE has for the past few months. Which is annoying...

Who released it? VALVe? I find it hard to believe that VALVe supports a program which 98% of it's use is for illegal destribution of software. And how will they "unluck" the game? Dosn't they need the Steam Application to do that, like they did with "Codename: Gordon"?

But hey, I could be wrong.

I could send you a poison through the post, doesn't make the post evil and bad.

Anyways, yeh, Valve deliever everything by either Steam or BitTorrent these days, probably because the guy that invented BitTorrent now works for Valv... anyways, the HL2 preload will probably happen through Steam itself though.

However, if they did use BitTorrent to do some preloading, you can put the GCFs into the SteamApps folder and have Steam unlock them ready to play on release day.

My mistake. I just guss I allways have looked at BitTorrent like it is part of the KazaA Emule part of software.
