record it with fraps and send it to me if you like to host it over the super fast uni connection
1: I don't know what the hell fraps is
2: It would take me hours to upload it from this computer and I have very, very limited access to broadband.

A few commands (HL2-like only):

record DEMONAME
When you want to stop it type: stop

Woo for 2,00 MB high quality vids \0/

After many more battles I have come to the following conclustions
1: I must me more careful with console commands
2: 2 major problems for the soldier AI is firendly fire trying to shoot through cover
3: I must set up better battlefields to see different aspects of the AI

Agreed. I must force myself to not kill them so fast, but instead let the battles be drawn out and enjoying.

I suppose if you really wanted to stick up for the Combine AI, you could say that this is kind of logical, since they're all pretty much killing machines and there's no reason why they wouldn't shoot through a teammate to get to you if they figure it would take you down.

Although yeah, of course it's nothing so deep

Yeah...

Man, i wish I had some time left to play HL2.

Wheres the video already? Jeez man, jeez.

Anywho, i think the AI in HL2 does its job fine. The AI in the sp campaign could be better, but with that said its still good. I know the AI is great AI because i've seen what it can do in mods like Das Roboss, Smod (everyone download that btw) and Minerva.

I'm not making a video. I'll make a bloody photo-album of the nest one.

Mm... in HL2 single player I never see Combine troops kill one another on accident... but in HL1: Source I've seen more than a few marines get cut down in the cross fire by their own guys.

I've seen Combine kill eachother in my travels through the sp campaign but it's not very common (I don't mean just grenades either).

Can some form of h4xx0r or coder confirm that the AI for the marines in HL:Source is different from HL1?

You gys do know that the Marine AI in the first HL couldnt move and shoot at the same time? Doesnt sound too human to me. Combine in HL2 appear to be stupid because they are rarely grouped together. Soldiers have to be part of a Squad for their AI to interact with each other. Alot of mods like Antlion Troopers and even lost Coasts did this and the results are amazing. They talk to each other and do alot of great things. I am pretty HL1:S AI is exactly the same AI as HL2's, so whatever you are getting at is just a psychological difference because you assoicate Combine with brainless machines and Marines with human deathsquads.

COMBINES ARE BRAINLESS MACHINES AND MARINES ETC...

AND THAT IS THE EFFACT THEY HAD INTEGRATED IN COMBINE AI.

YOU FAIL TO UNDERSTAND THIS.

THE HL1 MARINE AI DID NOT FIRE AND MOVE BECAUSE IT WAS NOT ADVANCED AT THAT TIME in 1998 WHEN IT WAS MADE.

DO YOU UNDERSTAND NOW??????????

WTF you summed up what I said and yelled at me at the same time. Newflash, alot of other games at the time had ai that could move and shoot at the same time, it was by no means impossible in 1998 to code that. Combine are nto brainless either you dunce, they still have a brain, but it lacks the parts that make it human, such as emotions. Only parts that coudl be used for warfare were left or enhanced.

i am no dunce, you are a complete retard for being a combine bumchum

You are a complete retard for not only trying to back up an imaginary force, but also for believing that VALVe actually coded the combine AI to be a "mindless killing machine".

only game i've ever really thought that had 'good ai' was fear, and even that isn't that good.

I think that if Valve wanted to, they could have made 'better' AI, but I think the Metrocops were 'dumbed' on purpose, since they were almost 'programmed' to be on the offensive side, but individual.

I think metrocops were just supposed to do what they did. Stand still and shoot at you like idiots.
