i wanted to ask if HL source is going to be just like the original hl just with an advanced graphics?

Pretty much yes.

Yeah...There wont be any plot changes if that's what you wondered about.

I thought it was going to just have the physics engine but not any better graphics (unlike CS:Source which is having its graphics updated).

I wonder what models are they going to use.. the old ones or the High Def ones.

What about Opposing force and blue shift, are they going to be ported?

will the source AI be used? Because i'm thinking how much harder the assassins would be to kill even if thier AI increased by a fraction.

dyou think blueshift will be supported by steam when its updated in source?

Everything will be on steam, there not useing WON anymore.

It would be cool if modders took the time and updated all the content from HL1 to source/hl2 quality. Not just the physics and shaders.

My fear exactly, but do you reckon they'd have to alter the number of opponents in the game, or allow you to take more hits seeing as the new AI would kick your ass more. Having fewer opponents would be crap as would being able to take more damage.

I imagine it's inevitable, really. Half-Life converted to equal Half-Life 2 quality is probably second on most HL gamers' list (behind Half-Life 2, that is!).

I'd imagine that HL:Source will be a good enough conversion. To update some things but not all things would leave the game feeling a bit hollow which would detract from the experience. Whilst the game will be limited in terms of design compared to HL2, HL:Source will still be as good as the original, but hopefully with some added oomph.

since there are so many crate puzzles in hl1, how do you think the boxes would react. i remember sometimes being really frustrated at some puzzles for the boxes would just slip to the wrong place when i let go of the "e" button, i wonder if the physics of source will remedie that problem

The female ones were piss too. I've never died once in that section without trying to.

those Marines are already smart enough dude :)

well, I didnt play the game on easy

female assassins just pissed me off. like getting an bee sting - it's not gonna kill, justs hurts. btw, i played it on hard.

cs:source sounds intriguing even though i haven't touched cs in almost a year. hl:source - i think i'll pass. i just don't see it updating all that much. i guess i'll have to wait and see more about it.

They said they were going to upgrade the graphics for the HL:source, as well as changing a few things so that physics and what not could be implemented into the game.

I'm looking forward to HL:S. You will see a graphical improvement in terms of dynamic shadows and lighting. The shader system and physics will be fun too. The physics won't play a massive part to the game, but it will certainly add some cool improvements.

I'm real curious as to just how much they'll upgrade the graphics.

Compare the old CS with CS: Source, (as seen in the videos) and you'll get a fair idea.

They wouldn't just update physics and shaders without updating the graphics...think about how dumb it would be if they left everything the same except that.

I wouldn't bother playing it.

It can't take that long to update some of the graphics.

LOL yeah. I remember that stuff. "ok lets just nudge this box under the ladder" then you walk up to it hold use then go forward a millimeter and watch the box skid 30 feet down the hall.

Oh and I think I remember gabe saying they were leaving graphics updates to modders and just updating the hold half-life games besides CS with the source engine. personally I never minded the old visuals so I'm just glad they are updating the engine.

it'll look amazing, the physics would help no end on those little puzzles, i think there shall have replacements for some of the characters, the scientists are in HL2 as we have seen along with a few others (zombies, headcrabs, vortigaunts etc.). Maybe we shall all the models replaced as well.

At the least the game shall look great and be really worth replaying just to have the fun of HL in an up to date delivery.

I can't wait for the modding thinking about it. Spirit of HL won't be necessary to conjoin entities and if they make a spirit equilelant then it shall only be for making aboslutely awesome effects.

yea i remeber pressing the use button and trying to scoot the box across the floor , only to see it fly 50 ft. down the hall. though i'm looking forward to the "they hunger" series redone in the scource.

It'd suck if we see that gordon had the same pair of arms from the original. I really like the new improved HEV which is all metally and shiny. :P looks purdy.

I've been raving about this since i heard HL2 was being made.... They Hunger was incredible, Neil Manke is a genius, a whole new HL2: They Hunger should be made...bigger, better, longer.

I don't care if they upgrade the graphics as long as I can unload my double shotgun blast into a marine and watch him fly back 10 feet and ragdoll

btw, does they hunger work with steam?, also best character in it was the sheriff, i just love how he said son of b**** in his hick accent.

I don't think I'd want to play HL again with the same graphics after playing HL2. It would be painful.

HL2 doesn't have dynamic lighting :o

It's compiled in :E

It uses a mixture of dynamic lighting and high quality pre-calculated lighting techniques with realistic radiosity and so on, that fully dynamic lighting cannot compete with at this point in time.

yea that is going to be so sweet with the new physics and stuff... i will definitely play through it again!
